    Thanks!

Just Tuesday this week as Thanksgiving is already upon us.

    228, 192, 212 - 632 series

    Strikes: 50% (17/34)
    Spares: 82% (14/17)
    - Single Pin: 100% (13/13)
    - Multiple Pin: 25% (1/4)
    Splits: 0% (0/2)
    First ball avg: 9.35

Started with a nice look but began leaving 10 pins. Made some small changes throughout game 1 and ended with a punchout to win the game. Game 2 was almost the opposite, I started with a turkey but lost my line and ended on a split. Gah! game 3 started similarly, I was spares (and a chopped 2/4/5) all the way to the eighth frame when I made another small change and punched out from there. Outside of that bad stretch at the end of game 2/beginning of 3, a solid night and was glad to cover my single pins. The finger is still sore but getting better, a relief.

    Tuesday Men's:

    244, 186, 236 - 666 series

    Strikes: 54% (18/33)
    Spares: 92% (13/14)
    - Single Pin: 90% (10/11)
    - Multiple Pin: 100% (3/3)
    Splits: NA% (0/0)
    First ball avg: 9.45

29 clean again.. missed on a 10 pin but aside from that everything was good. I've had a few minor problems with transition in game 2, but the good news is that game 3 has been much better this year. Our team took 7 out of 9 points for the third week straight and moved into first place! Now to keep that up...

    Thursday Mixed:

    190, 210, 256 - 656 series

    Strikes: 67% (23/34)
    Spares: 60% (6/10)
    - Single Pin: 100% (5/5)
    - Multiple Pin: 20% (1/5)
    Splits: 0% (0/2)
    First ball avg: 9.32

Well, this was an interesting night. I started with the Hy Road and had wildly inconsistent results for the first few frames. Changed to the Haywire in the middle of game 1 and smoothed out my shot. I was getting more revs on the ball than normal tonight (actually, a ton) and at times it led to some interesting leaves if I happened to scrub a little speed off. However, pocket shots were a strike almost every time. Game 2 started with a double, then a 4-6-7-9 split, then a strike, then a 4-6-7 split, then a few more strikes... ended with 9 that game and a 210, ha. By game 3 everything was going well and I opened front 6, then got distracted (my own fault, should have held up) and left an 8 count... covered it and ended the game strong.

On a more negative note, the finger is not getting better and in fact feels like it's getting worse. I'll need to take a few weeks off to let it heal at some point, but I'm hoping to get through to near the holidays for that.

    Saturday Tournament

    172, 190, 213 - 575 series.

    Strikes: 41% (14/34)
    Spares: 68% (13/19)
    - Single Pin: 88% (8/9)
    - Multiple Pin: 50% (5/10)
    Splits: 0% (0/4)
    First ball avg: 8.97

Did a local tournament on a team yesterday. Naproxen before the bowling really helped with the finger so that wasn't an issue. What was an issue is that it was a longer, flat(ter) pattern at an unfamiliar house, and we were playing on the burn after doubles, on the end pair. Only got in a couple of practice shots and really struggled to get a line in game 1. My haywire was either rolling out or just not turning over and driving - I was playing pretty far inside, basically was trying to outbowl a bad ball reaction. I left a few splits and weak leaves before switching to the hy road for game 2 (I only brought 3 balls, one plastic. I should have grabbed my pearl but didn't really think I'd need it, lesson learned). I got a better line game 2 and by game 3 had a controllable reaction. Salvaged a decent game but I think I left a lot on the table by starting with the wrong ball, wrong line.

    Tuesday Men's:

    205, 201, 234 - 640 series

    Strikes: 63% (21/33)
    Spares: 66% (8/12)
    - Single Pin: 85% (6/7)
    - Multiple Pin: 40% (2/5)
    Splits: 0% (0/3)
    First ball avg: 9.33

Not a terrible night, on the end pair again (different house obviously) and I had some trouble with carry as I frequently do on this pair. A lot of flush-looking hits that would leave a random pin or ringing 10. I was pretty dialed in but didn't have a huge series. The anchor on the other team was a new guy, pretty unfriendly and was attempting to play head games the whole night which kind of annoyed me. Will have to keep that in mind for next time we play them - ended up splitting points, and are now out of first by a single point.

    Thurs Mixed:

    180, 203, 195 - 578 series

    Strikes: 51% (17/33)
    Spares: 68% (11/16)
    - Single Pin: 70% (7/10)
    - Multiple Pin: 66% (4/6)
    Splits: 33% (1/3)
    First ball avg: 9.21

End pair AGAIN! Always seems to happen in bunches. Same deal as Tuesday with the lane behavior, except today I wasn't dialed in. Missed a couple spares I shouldn't have missed, missed my target a few times and always paid for it. Split points here as well. Glad to be off the end pair for the next few weeks at least.

This week was messy in both leagues...

    Tues Mens -
    204, 225, 182 - 611 series

    Strikes: 43% (14/32)
    Spares: 88% (15/17)
    - Single Pin: 84% (11/13)
    - Multiple Pin: 100% (4/4)
    Splits: 100% (1/1)
    First ball avg: 9.22

My release wasn't right, for whatever reason I was about 50+ revs less than normal. I moved around trying to find a line but ended up just getting no drive through the pins. Game 2 I had some light mixers, it wasn't really as good as the score indicates (even though I whiffed a 10 pin in the 10th frame). I felt like the lane was playing longer but that could have been a result of the release issues.

    Thurs Mixed:

    191, 194, 187 - 572 series

    Strikes: 47% (16/34)
    Spares: 64% (11/17)
    - Single Pin: 85% (6/7)
    - Multiple Pin: 50% (5/10)
    Splits: 0% (0/5)
    First ball avg: 8.97

As you can tell by the splits and number of multiple pins, it was a struggle. My release was fine but I couldn't generate anything consistent. If I was off by a board or 2 at my breakpoint I got paid off with a split - couple of 7-10s, a 4-5, etc. Which tells me the ball wasn't hooking/driving through. Again the lanes played longer... but I think the bigger issue is that my ball needs a resurface. I'm basically using the haywire and hyroad as my 2 league balls and the haywire has quite a few games on it. I've resurfaced by hand and extracted the oil a couple of times but it's definitely not reacting the way it "should" be

    Tueday Men's:

    213, 202, 223 - 638 series

    Strikes: 55% (19/34)
    Spares: 78% (11/13)
    - Single Pin: 100% (7/7)
    - Multiple Pin: 57% (4/7)
    Splits: 0% (0/1)

Basically, had one open per game. Thew the ball pretty well, and scores were decent. Game 3 would have been better without the pocket 7-10 I had considering I had a turkey before and after it. Holding steady with my average here, a lot of consistent weeks in a row - no huge games/series, but no real low ones either.

    Thursday Mixed:

    181, 222, 194 - 597 series

    Strikes: 50% (17/34)
    Spares: 75% (12/16)
    - Single Pin: 80% (8/10)
    - Multiple Pin: 66% (4/6)
    Splits: 0% (0/1)
    First ball avg: 9.05

We were in a roll off for first half champions and got swept, all we had to do was win one. We faced the same team last week and results were similar so we really blew it. It seems I don't bowl well against them in particular, I struggle to find a line that carries (perhaps due to a 2 hander who uses a plastic ball, throwing around the same line I do? who knows). I just seem to leave a lot of single pins on what seem to be solid shots. Simply put, I didn't do well and didn't cover spares well enough and ended up with a couple poor series back to back in this league - oh well!

    Tuesday Mens:

    180, 183, 210 - 573 series

    Strikes: 35% (12/34)
    Spares: 78% (15/19)
    - Single Pin: 80% (12/15)
    - Multiple Pin: 75% (3/4)
    Splits: 0% (0/1)
    First ball avg: 8.97

I must have been doing something slightly wrong on this one as I missed the pocket only 3 times all night. One I dropped the ball on, one that was light as I was changing balls/lines for a 2-4-5 and another light hit that I just missed on. All 31 other shots were pocket and I just could. not. carry. on the left lane. I left 7 7pins - all on that lane, to go with a pocket 7-10. I dunno if something was off on the pin setter or what. It made it hard to string together anything, obviously. I also missed 3 single pins in game 1 before settling down (2! of them were 7s). Game 3 was clean at least. I was focusing so much on posting my shot that I feel like I wasn't getting out of the ball quite clean enough.

    THurs Mixed:

    224, 214, 213 - 651 series

    Strikes: 59% (20/34)
    Spares: 69% (9/13)
    - Single Pin: 87% (7/8)
    - Multiple Pin: 40% (2/5)
    Splits: 0% (0/2)
    First ball avg: 9.35

A much needed better night. I was coming out of the ball nicely AND posting and the results spoke for themselves. I noticed that I hadn't been coming back straight in my backswing, instead I had seemed to be going a little bit off my body which had been leading to struggles the last couple weeks. A tiny tweak and everything was back to the way it should have been on release.

    Tues Men's:

    223, 176, 213 - 612 series

    Strikes: 51% (17/33)
    Spares: 75% (12/16)
    - Single Pin: 77% (7/9)
    - Multiple Pin: 71% (5/7)
    Splits: 0% (0/2)
    First ball avg: 9.21

Missed a couple of spares/single pins I shouldn't have and had a bit of an issue with my line and transition in game 2. I need to get back in for practice, the finger seems to have settled down enough to handle it again.

    Thursday Mixed:

    255, 259, 245 - 759 series (A new personal high!)

    Strikes: 74% (26/35)
    Spares: 85% (6/7)
    - Single Pin: 100% (6/6)
    - Multiple Pin: 0% (0/1)
    Splits: 0% (0/1)
    First ball avg: 9.69

Was crazy on. I missed on one ball where I got distracted (and should have held up) leaving a baby split that I didn't convert. Every other ball was pocket, I left a couple of 4's and a couple 10's and that was it - covered them all. The ball was coming off so well and smooth, everything was going exactly over my mark and carry was there. Really pumped about nights like this!
