    Monday Doubles: 195, 226, 278 - 699 series (argh)

    Strikes: 62% (22/35)
    Spares: 91% (11/12)
    - Single Pin: 100% (6/6)
    - Multiple Pin: 83% (5/6)
    Splits: 0% (0/1)
    First ball average: 9.37

After I said that the lanes played pretty tight. The hyroad has been good in practice but not in game the last couple weeks - after 5 straight spares to start (most multiple pin) and a couple adjustments I ball changed to the haywire for the smoother reaction and bam. I tugged the 9th for a 4-7-10 but that was my only open for the night. Game 2 was strikes with a few 10 pins (and a 7) thrown in, game 3 was strikes minus a flat 10 on a shot I missed a touch outside on and a 10 pin leave in the fill frame.

It was a good thing I was locked in, I had about 3 boards max downlane to work with - had to be very accurate at the arrows. The real key has been staying ahead of transition... the last couple weeks I finally seem to have gotten into the groove there. Best of all... we were going against first place team and swept - just barely, by game differences of 4, 4, and 12.

700 is just another number. The important thing is that you were able to bowl well on tough conditions. You met your personal goal of staying ahead of the transition. And your team won! Well done!

    Monday Doubles:

    217, 169, 184 - 570 series

    Strikes: 36% (12/33)
    Spares: 80% (16/20)
    - Single Pin: 100% (11/11)
    - Multiple Pin: 55% (5/9)
    Splits: 25% (1/4)
    First ball average: 8.94

Couldn't get anything going tonight. Something was off, and I also had a tough time reading the lanes. When I did find pocket, I didn't carry that well. Few odd splits, etc. We got swept and will be out of the running for the league (next week is last week). I'm missing that one actually so this was it for me. I was shooting for a 220 avg but ended up dropping a few instead. Finished this one at a 216. On the plus side - 11/11 in single pins, and ended the league with a made 10 pin, even though it didn't count for anything it still felt good to cover it!

    Doubles Tournament -

So we had a smallish tournament, 2 games, a cut then a stepladder style elimination format. 38 teams, top 5 cashed. No lineage so all money went to prize fund.

    Games 1/2 - 221, 212

We were last team to make the cut.

Game 3 (lane change, no practice) - 203. My partner really messed this game up with a 127... we did not advance.

    Stats:
    Strikes: 57% (20/35)
    Spares: 73% (11/15)
    - Single Pin: 77% (7/9)
    - Multiple Pin: 66% (4/6)
    Splits: 0% (0/2)
    First ball average: 9.37

Game 1 I mostly did OK, used practice time to try a few different lines. Was clean except for a 4-9 split that I tugged. Game 2 I was playing different lines on each lane as they transitioned differently, outside of a pocket 7-10 I was clean here also.

Game 3 we were stuck on the end pair, I actually had a decent line at the start as I started out XXX but then started leaving single pins. 2 of them were 10s, and my plastic ball hooked around each time. Highly irritating/unexpected, and kinda sunk the game a bit. Made a ball change to salvage the 203 but by then it was too little too late. With my partners bad game making them wouldn't have mattered, I suppose.

Fall league (just 1 this year) starts next week. Looking forward to it!

First night of fall league -

    170, 223, 192 - 585 series

    Strikes: 43% (14/32)
    Spares: 77% (14/18)
    - Single Pin: 90% (9/10)
    - Multiple Pin: 62% (5/8)
    Splits: 33% (1/3)
    First ball average: 9.12

On the end pair and adjusting back to 5-person leagues took a bit. Line was shot by frame 4 in game 1 and I had to chase the oil in for a few frames. Ended up with a 7-10 in there somewhere and ended up just not stringing anything together. Game 2 was better, went with a ball that went down the lane more and was able to bust out a decent game despite a missed 7-pin after a 4 bagger. Game 3 was a lot of tweaks/adjustments to find the pocket, was clean minus a 6-10 chop (doh).

All in all kind of a grind. Next week should be better. I felt like I had a good release/timing/aim but was playing catchup on the lanes. Starting out with a low series isn't a bad thing however, and we actually won so that was nice.

    Tues Mens:

    209, 183, 236 - 628 series

    Strikes: 54% (18/33)
    Spares: 80% (12/15)
    - Single Pin: 90% (9/10)
    - Multiple Pin: 60% (3/5)
    Splits: 0% (0/2)
    First ball average: 9.36

Game 1 was clean, just couldn't string much on the right lane. Game 2 I was definitely muscling the ball and not coming out clean enough to drive well to the pocket. I had a couple splits and also missed on a 10 pin (first of the year). Game 3 I focused heavily on posting my shot, which really helped. Started front 5 then mixed in a few spares for another clean game and a respectable series. All in all better than last week but some stuff mentally to keep in mind.

Eh, not much to say about this one really. I was making good shots, my timing and release were good, I simply couldn't string anything together. I was clean games 1 and 2 save for a 7-10 split each game unless you count a chop in the fill frame. Game 3 was clean (split in the 11th). The only balls I missed on were both 7-10s where it didn't come out clean and had zero drive through pocket. Brighter days will be ahead especially if I can continue throwing as well as I did.

Well game 1 my timing was pretty bad. First 2 frames were a stone 8 and then a ringing 10... had a couple of splits in game 1 that sunk that game, one where I left the ball very light and a 7-10.

I had switched balls at the end of game 1 to smooth out the reaction but it led to 2 chops in a row to start game 2 (a 2-4-5 that I left the 5 on, and a 3-6 that left the 6). I watched someone on the other team begin to find his line with a Crossroad - a ball similar to the Hyroad - after he had struggled in game 1 as well and decided to switch back to that ball, moving in a little. What a difference! Began stringing from there. Game 3 started with a 4-9 split that came in high, so I moved in again and strung together a bunch more save for a 10 pin in the 8th.

Strong finish to the set as well as a good start to the season on single pin coverage. Avg. is down a bit for now at 207 but definitely some positives thus far.
