During league night tonight I started out with a 152 game. I got a little discouraged and thought that this would be a dud night. My second game was a 165. My thought then was well I don't practice anymore so I can't expect much. My arthritis in my hands, hips and knees keep me from practicing twice a week like I used to. Even with this problem I just can't quit the game. I like it too much. Now the reason why you don't ever give up. The last game I bowled a 246 by stringing six strikes and ending up spares and another strike. I know that even without practice I have been bowling on this league for 27 years and know about lining up on the approach and adjusting to the lanes when they change. Tonight
it involved a ball change. I waited too long to do it though. I started out with my high RG Blue Hammer but couldn't get lined up for good pocket hits. So I turned to my Raw Hammer Anger ball which I call my hook ball. I was lined up with the arch of my slide foot on board 30. I was throwing over the area from board 11 to board 16 at the arrows. The problem I had at first when I changed balls was that I was playing deep but my swing was not going far enough toward the area I was shooting for at the arrows. I had my shoulders and hips open for my target but my swing line was too straight because I would walk straight like you are supposed to but my swing was too straight. Sometimes it is hard to get used to walking straight and throwing left because your shoulders are open so the swing goes left. It takes some getting used to. It all came together in the third game. I was walking straight to the foul line and throwing to my target left-I am a lefty. Somebody has a link from Rob Maunter about playing deep and walking straight to the foul line and throwing left or right to your target area. I just happened to think of that in my third game. So don't let an open frame or bad game get to you. You never know when you will get hot and surprise yourself like I did tonight.
