Thread: How Do I Get The Heck Out Of Brooklyn?

My mom is about like you tcc. She plays straight up the boards and has a lot of trouble moving deep and swinging it out. So sometimes she'll actually target brooklyn. Earlier this year she bowled a 255, had 9 strikes, all brooklyn. And her three non strikes were either on her own side and left a ten pin or through the nose. Low ball speed as well so those brooklyn shots just ride ride down the front of the pins and sweep the rest out. Sometimes brooklyn is a good thing!!!

I can move left and throw that big sweeping hook I just prefer the reaction I get from playing straighter plus I have a ball speed that is measured by light years and not MPH

i love it when my ball goes brooklyn main reason why is because i seem to always get a strike when it happens but can never repeat the shot because when i hit pocket i get robbed just like last Saturday.

but when i don't want to hit brooklyn the thing i do is depending where i'm throwing from witch is normally standing on 20 crossing 14 board and pushing out but if i was going brooklyn and want to hit the pocket the thing i would be is i would move 3 - 5 boards left and aim at the middle arrow and come up because the ball to take alot of the hook out of the ball and play a tight line witch aiming there should push the ball out close to the 10-13 board and the ball will hit the pocket ( i got a high rev rate can't really check it because my revs are off the sheet)

I am ok with someone going Brooklyn. If they line up the shot and it works great. What I am not ok with and this was an actual event that happened. I got a brand new ball - can't remember which one but I hadn't thrown it yet. I show up to my normal league night. This clown shows up and throws 8 in a row all completely lucky with a house ball and is bragging up and down. At the time I had about a 185 average and I couldn't hit a shot to save my life. By the end of the night I was so pissed I literally threw my new ball in the trash can. I woke up the next day and thought why did I do that? That was when I decided I needed to control my temper / anger when bowling and it has helped my game tremendously. I laugh about it now but at the time it hurt to shell out another $250 for a new ball the next day. Now I am pretty good with keeping my anger in check with the occasional cussing or getting mad about shooting bad.

I don't mind brooklyn, or people congratulating someone who got one - a strike is a strike and helps the team. What bugs me is when we are bowling someone with a low average and they end up with 3 or 4 in a row straight through the head pin (bonus if its a house ball and they complain when they finally miss one).

    Post medications and eye pain

The guy I am talking about was not a great bowler, but had this sweeping first ball, that sometimes hit the pocket, (it was not like he was truing to go broken), BUT MOST of the time would slide across the one pin and get a number of strikes with his miss)
Don't get me wrong he didn't have a high average at all, but would on occasion get a 200 plus with his two finger, bowling style.
He also had problems with spares,,,, "IF he didn't get that pocket strike, or sweeping across Brooklyn strike he was in trouble!

I don't have a problem with this guy, he actually seems to be a nice guy, and I will get to the point where his unique style of lucky bowling doesn't case eye pain!! (( I will just need to take medication before bowling them until that happens!!.)))

    This, lol

Always one in the crowd. I guess that is the literal way to get out of brooklyn.

On any given league night I typically throw a brooklyn or 2 - usually after my 4th or 5th beer when I lose focus.
