I volunteer on a couple of sites and I give equal allegiance to all.

Considering all the complaints I've seen on here about how the mobile site and the main site functions, the complaints about how the ball giveaway is run and how facebook people are allowed to enter.

I'd say there's plenty of users here unhappy with a lot of things on this site.

Ice, I agree with you that you obvious called Bill out, he obviously was lying…and he used his powers on the other site to get rid of you.

But I also agree with Bowl….they really weren't "bad mouthing this site". Bowl was having issues with me…he mentioned it. A couple others chimed in. It's not surprising. And actually, I'm not even annoyed by it. I think it was better for Bowl to vent there than to vent here. I have issues with Bowl when he takes sides on THIS site because he's a moderator and needs to remain impartial. But on THAT site…he can say whatever he wants.

But who cares man? That other site is a tiny little start-up with hardly any regular users. Some of the people are super excited about it because they think it'll be better in some way than this site. Which implies, that there's something wrong with this site…which I don't get. Seems like this site has weekly giveaways, gets more traffic, has more history, and has a more diverse group of users. It "seems" (without putting words in their mouths) that they like that site because it doesn't have colorful personalities like you and me. Like I've said in the past…there are quite a few people that have the belief that if someone disagrees with their opinion…that person shouldn't be allowed to talk. Those are the kinda people that get excited about a "new forum" where "people like him won't be welcome".

The only thing I take issue with regarding that little "snippet" of their conversation is where the person said, "On this site, he wouldn't get as many chances."

Realize, up until my membership on this site was put up for a vote…I had NEVER received any warnings or "chances". I had a couple threads where they got off track and posts got deleted…but I was never "warned" or PMd or received anything of the sort. I got a couple PMs from a couple users that expressed disagreement with my opinions…but I never received any warnings. So, either that person didn't "know" that…or on their new site people like me would get thrown off as soon as a couple people don't like them….which is going to lead to a forum with relatively few users at the end of the day. My opinion.

Would it be possible to adjust the entry rules then? When you click on the ball giveaway link on the front page to enter it says "== General Giveaway Rules

Every post made on BowlingBoards during the dates listed above will be considered an entry. Drawing will be done the first business day following the contest period. Winner will be contacted via email and through BowlingBoards.com." this implies that you need to be on Bowlingboards.com and a member here (hence the email also) to win the ball because each post counts as a vote.

Then is goes onto say "The goal of BowlingBoards is to bring more people into our community. Participate in the conversations happening here. And while you are at it, you will be earning entries into our drawing." - this also implies that you need to "participate in conversation here" to get chances to win the ball.

And lastly it says "IMPORTANT NOTICE! -- We reserve the right to redraw a winner if the winning post is not of quality content. Quality content is at the sole discretion of the BowlingBoards.com administrators. This means that one word posts will not qualify. Repeating what someone else has said does not qualify.

" - this is saying that a post will be drawn to award the winner here at bowling boards. also it says the post must be of "quality content". Most FB posts I have seen are quick things like "I want to win", "would love this ball" "hope I win", etc..... then also a "Facebook Share" and a "Like" on FB are also counted as a chance.

Now dont get me wrong. I enter both on here by providing posts, and on facebook, and I hope to one day win a ball, that would be awesome. But would it be possible to chance that page to also show that you can win by the facebook chances also?

I guess I'm just wired differently….because I don't "get it".

Other than the mobile site thing…which I don't use…there's really NOTHING wrong with this site. Nothing. It's usually quite civil. I haven't seen more than maybe one thread worth of spam. There's no weird pop-ups. The moderator is rather tolerant. And the information is interesting and informative. Add to that there's a chance to win a bowling ball every week!!

And as to the contest…my thought has always been about things like this….anytime you're "given" something…it's kinda bad form to complain about it. I may never win a bowling ball. Oh well. And sure, I've seen people win that post twice a month…sometimes with no real "value" whatsoever. But it's a FREE ball. Someone is GIVING it away. You're not paying money to enter a contest. It's free. It's a gift. The website can give a "gift" to whomever they wish.

And of COURSE the admins want to use Facebook to attract new people to the site and to bowling ball.com. Thats just solid business sense.

I look at it like I do bowling tournaments, poker tournaments, and the lottery. If God wants me to win…I'll win. If not, God wanted someone else to win. If a person is only here to win a ball…hey, good luck. If not…great. Stay and post and have fun and maybe someday you'll win a ball.
