Default The move to synthetic might be MY fault!!! I need to slow my ball speed down!!

I sometimes forget that my ball speed, (which approaches the speed of light, 186,000 miles per second), may be the reason most bowling alleys are going synthetic! Your right Aslan,,, the fricken friction my balls create can produce dangerous wood burning fires!!

At least with the synthetic, its just a vapor flame that goes out shortly after the ball reaches the pocket....

On the same topic, I was watching Tournament bowling on TV this weekend and they were talking about the venue having wooden approaches, but sythentic lanes. I can see the difference it has on your finish if you like alot of slide, but how critical is the diference between all sythetic approach and lanes as opposed to wooden approaches with synthetic lanes?

With synthetic approaches the humidity has more of a affect, the moisture makes them tend to be tackier than wood ones till it clears up.

There's also a difference in surface textures between brands of synthetics.

That's correct. I always thought synthetics were synthetics but then a pro shop guy was telling me there's all kinds of different synthetics and conditioners that can make synthetic lanes have different types of reactions.

Yeah, I bowl on five different houses down here in San Diego, and they are all different, and all synthetic.
