As a matter of fact the PBA experience league we had this summer we did not have any officers. The house handled everything.
Most of these leagues the house even passes out all the envelops and standings sheets and you turn them into the desk when your done with them.
The term league officers dont mean nothing in these leagues. They dont do anything.
If these are sanctioned leagues and the officers are not doing their duties, in particular the ones regarding the financial records, If a claim is made due to a deposit being lost or stolen, the USBC will not make good on it because the rules were not followed.

This is exactly the reason I prefer that the house handles all the duties. If you was to go to our association webpage there is a list of suspended bowlers with most being for misappropriation of league funds.

Even if the house handles all of the financial duties, the president still has to verify balances on a monthly basis, otherwise USBC would deny a claim.

Bowling centers have been known to closed their doors, or file bankruptcy.

I have been bowling a league where that has happened also lucky for us it happened in like the 3rd week of league so the payout was minimal.
