Default What should happen when League President resigns?

Had this happen in one of my leagues where the league President had to resign due to work schedule change.

What should have happened in this instance?

Our league got the captains together and through nominations, 1 nomination, voted in another person.

Should the Vice President have been bumped up to President? Just curious if there are any rules regarding this in USBC.

I believe there are several ways it could be handled.

1-the V.P. could be nominated and voted in as pres. (and elect a new v.p.),
2-if the v.p. doesn't want it just elect a new president.
3-the v.p. could take over till the next organizational meeting (if it's late in the season, if it's still early in the season you should have both a pres. and v.p.)

The league board (officers and team captains) would have to decide how to handle it either way.

I've seen the v.p. take over the duties and just finish out the season. I've also seen a new president be elected because the v.p. didn't want the job.

Does the president even do ANYTHING
The secretary is the one that does all the work but really the houses seem to have taken over most of the secretarial duties around here anyway.

with the bank statements being sent to the president and the signatures of at least two officers

The only meetings we typically have are first and last night of league

Most of the leagues around here are done in house and the bowling alley handles all money. Very few leagues outside of the traveling leagues (at least around here) do the secretary actually handle the money outside of collecting envelops and turning them into the office.

My Wednesday and Friday(Traveling) league the secretary does have the full responsibilities My Tuesday is handled in house. The only league who I know who the president is Tuesday and the only reason I know that is because I nominated him as a joke and he got elected I know for a fact he has not had to do a single thing.

As far as the house doing a lot of the work handling the money, the league president is still required to verify the league’s bank balance monthly and do the other duties.

That may be what they are supposed to do and maybe it is being done on my Wednesday and Friday league but I know it aint happening on my Tuesday night league
As a matter of fact the PBA experience league we had this summer we did not have any officers. The house handled everything.
Most of these leagues the house even passes out all the envelops and standings sheets and you turn them into the desk when your done with them.
The term league officers dont mean nothing in these leagues. They dont do anything.

Given if they are sanctioned leagues you could file complaints with the local assoc. or national if there is some kind of problems.

If they are unsanctioned leagues, not much you could do.

Default Elected Bowling Officers are not all Created Equal!!

One thing I have noticed FOR SURE is that some elected bowling officers do one hell of a great JOB! Others, don't seem to do a darn thing!

I would think the VP would take over the roll. Isn't that what a VP is suppose to do?
