part of that is because that is a 'safer' spot for the pro-shop to put the pin to prevent people plaring over the thumb/fingers.
another part is the thing people usually ask for is for the ball to go long and hook hard..... People want that Hockey stick they see the pros throw.
I agree with everyone else btw. Start with surface changes. 4000, 2000 if that's not enough etc. (remember though that with 2000 you will need to touch it up every few sessions)
Next woudl be to move the balance hole.. the only difference here though is that I wiould say to move it down the val to try to get it to start up sooner rather than up to a P1 and reducing the drilled dynamics.
I had great luck with a misfit moving my balance hole from P1 to P3 gives me a much different look.
