Surprising to hear this since the tribal is supposed to be a couple steps down from the primal rage (same cover, different cores). My primal rage works well in med-heavy oil, and I was considering the tribal for when the lanes burn up a bit.

You probably just have a ridiculous amount of revs compared to me, I like to play straighter on the outside. Now that I think about it, I did have to take my primal rage from 1500/polish to 4000/polish though..

Ask any ball driller. People complain all the time that they don't like the reaction of a new ball, then the proshop guy goes out and watches them throw and the reaction is often just fine, just not what the bowler is used to seeing. My new ball looks like it has half the revs I am used to seeing but that's because it is not drilled for early roll and picks up down lane instead. I'm used to seeing my ball look like it has a motor on it so it's weird. I wouldn't touch that ball you have until you have at least one other trusted person watch you throw it and agree that it snaps too hard.

You WANT a variety of ball reactions. What's the point of having a bunch of balls that all look the same on the lane???

    Default Icemans thoughts, and observations

most of my balls are all drilled about the same... pin up and over the ring finger. Its time for Ice to move out in other directions, Pin in middle ect ect... I do have that pin down now that is a completely different look going to the pocket. It is the ball I pull out when the out side is burnt up! My Virtual Gravity nanno is drilled in much the same manor as the Tribal, but it doesent' have that radical snap, the last 6 inches or so.

I like the ball a lot, its not my imagination, I have seen many MANY other bowlers that with certain balls, have that same VERY LATE, Snap! ((( I am talking inches before it hits the pocket))). My Nano drilled very similar, has a nice snap at the end, and very EVEN,,,, EVEN might be the word I am looking for here.

My tribal goes throw its hook faze, then this little extra just before impact!! It looks like a LATE kick on the side of the ball just before impact.

I have 15 balls, and its not like I haven't see a lot of different looks. This one is very unique! I just took the surface down to 2000, lightly 20 seconds... getting ready to take it to the lanes, lets see how this works out. Maybe it will tame the beast!!!

I love my tribal. It's a great ball but I've seen some pretty good back end reactions from guys who have lots of rev. It's got a great cover stock and weaker core so it should hook less than the primal rage. However, in some cases that might only mean moving 2-3 boards depending on the lane conditions. The guys who were having problems with their reactions altered the surface to achieve the desired ball motion. Hope you find a surface that works.

I'm also struggling to make my Cruel Intent work for me. I had my driller drill it the same as my old Wicked Siege, because I love that ball and it's movement. I told him to make the Cruel Intent do what the Wicked used to do. And all he did was copy the drill pattern. I'm thinking that wasn't such a good idea. Still hoping/trying though.
going to 2000, well it did take the snap out of the ball a bunch... don't really like the look I may do the 4000 lightly on all four sides for 20 seconds or so..... will get back after I check the balls response.

I think maybe tuning in a ball might be a lot like getting married! It takes a while to get that ball to do what you want, but when you do, its sweet!!
