Hmm, well if I vote in favor of Mudpuppy choosing a more convenient center then that would be self serving because then I TOO could choose a more convenient center for myself - also that would kill two birds with one stone because the new proshop owner at the alley I would choose is highly recommended by a number of folks and I was planning on paying him a visit for my next ball anyway

Of course I feel like this would be unfair to the rest of the field that bowled at their assigned centers per the rules as they stand now. Making a bunch of exceptions for convenience at this late stage in the game kinda nullifies all the months prior as well.

    So, my vote is NO.

And I assure you Mud this is nothing against you personally, I basically just voted against myself as well, as I procrastinated and then had some bad luck yesterday so I more than likely won't be able to make it to my assigned center either

No worries I will try and get to Detroit then. It's highly unlikely at this point.

It's with deep regret I have to forfeit. I didn't want to end my participation in the VBT this way but it is what it is. Traveled a bunch this month. Work is crazy. Dealing with the typical issues at home. Just not enough time. Got about 3 hours sleep last night up most of the night with the smallest kid. Just not going to be able pulling off 3 games in Detroit at the moment. Best of luck VDub and everyone else. I look forward to VBT II to hopefully have a better chance to participate more consistently. And of course the Iceman eats spiders while bowling on wood tournament o champions.

    That TIS a bummer man.

It will be interesting to see if the VBT survives in 2015 and if VBT Season II will get more interest. It was an interesting idea...I think everyone gave it it's best chance for success...but over the last 3 months the participation just went south BIG TIME. And even here in the finals, it looks like I'll move on by forfeit, VDub moves on by forfeit, and Stormed will move on via forfeit. Not sure about the ZDawg/MWhite scores...haven't seen them yet. If neither of them participate, I get a free ride all the way to the finals so long as I just bowl at the assigned center in November.

The worrisome thing is if things go as they have...I would have to face VDub in the Finals....and I was really hoping MPuppy could take advantage of VDub's 10-pin home center deduction this month and knock the Pinfall leader out early. I mean, Stormed1 "could" take out VDub next round....but Stormed1 is coming off serious surgery and still feeling his way back...it's a lot to ask of him to knock off the "VDub Express" and his 200+ average.

Going into the Finals I predicted an Aslan vs. Mudpuppy finals....but the big roadblocks would be Mudpuppy getting past VDub and me getting past MWhite. Either way, I think the winner of the Mudpuppy/VDubtx first round game is probably the eventual winner. There's just too much talent there. MWhite "could" match the talent level...but Mudpuppy brings in more handicap. Someone like myself, or Bunny, or noeymc, or ZDawg could probably put together ONE good series and with our handicap get a pass...but we'd need a good deal of luck...and lately I ain't had much of that. ZDawg seems to be bowling better with the MBaker lessons...so he could still win this as a "darkhorse"...but at this point I don't have scores for him so....???

Sorry, I'm also having to forfeit....I tried my best Tuesday to get in but if you look at my post from that day I ran into a lot of bad luck (and misinformation) from the person working there so I was unable to bowl. Well technically I could've sat at the bar for three hours waiting for leagues to finish but then my scores would've been garbage

If today wasn't Halloween which turns into my birthday at midnight I'd have a last ditch effort to make it to the alley but obviously I have other plans so I won't be able to make it.

I'll be back though for VBT2, and I think another SoCal tourney is in order...you've had long enough to gloat about your victory back in March

Ah yes...thank you for bringing that up. It was a truly great and wonderful victory by Aslan over ZDawg and the great MWhite.

The good news is...I think for that tournament my average was 165...yet currently my league average is like 151...so even MORE handicap for me!!! Unless Mike whines that I have to use my spring/summer of 166.

I would suggest either leaving it the same 3 people...OR expanding it by each of us bringing a doubles partner. Unfortunately Mike would be my doubles partner choice...and the two good players on my Tuesday league...I don't know them that well. Plus, Mike knows all kinds of really high end PBA kinda bowlers so he'd bring some Mega Ringer that would destroy us.

Also, minor clarification for the rules.

Originally I was going to freeze averages once the finals began. Then I mentioned in a thread that they were going to change each round, even during the tournament.

I've been going back and forth on it and am certainly open to input...but given the lack of participation...it may be better to just freeze them where they were at the end of September.

Now, this hurts me most, at least in terms of the scores I have so far....so I'm not getting any advantage by this change. I'm just worried that, for example, in my case...

    - IF I know that ZDawg forfeits and lets say MWHITE forfeits...then I could theorteically go out and bowl 3 90 games to lower my average to fave VDub. And that wouldn't be fair because VDub can't do that as he has to face Stormed1 next round.

    - Second, most tournaments don't change your averages/handicap after each squad. You have what you had when you entered.

It's not a big deal either way. MWhite hasn't said he's out...and was probably just waiting to send in his scores till the last minute. I just think when you factor in the starting averages...and 6 months of qualifying...thats a pretty good indication of the bowler's averages.

Agreements? Disagreements? Let me know before I post the results and stuff for November Semi-Finals. Thx.

That is most unfortunate. Right about the time you were posting this, I was bowling. And it wasn't pretty.

    I figured I was out.

Figures, I send you my pitiful scores at 2:44pm (I thought for sure I was out when I bowled them) and 10 minutes later you want to change the rules.

I haven't done the math but I know my average came way down.

We could have used our entering average each month, but you didn't want to do that.

Now you want to quit changing averages? Seems a little fishy to me.

Yeah, I just got a text and had to look at it about 7 times to figure out WTH!!???

Okay...I gotta DEFINITELY vote we lock averages now. A 186-183-97!!?

Yeah...there's no way I can use that with a straight face. Even if you smoke me...which you probably will...thats a REAL kick to the groin of poor VDubtx!!

I mean, I guess I don't care...whatever everyone thinks is fine with me....but that performance...that drops your average about 8 pins. My performance drops my average 5 pins. So me PERSONALLY...I don't really care. You claim you bowled not knowing ZDawg was out. I claim that even though I knew CG and noeymc weren't in...I didn't intentionally play under my level. But, if I were just some GUY...just walking in and see that Aslan threw a 432 (lowest since month #1) and MWhite threw a 466 (97 points lower than anything he's thrown to date)...I'd be VERY skeptical.

So...with the spirit of good sportsmanship in mind...unless ZDawg and Mudpuppy want to over-rule (they still have the authority despite the forfeit)...I say we lock the average at what they were entering round 1. That way...no shennanigans or even "perceived" shennanigans.

    Agreed?
