Default Anyone here have two different weight balls in your arsenal?

Right now I have one ball that is 14lbs and the other is 15lbs. I plan on getting the Storm Lights Out ball but haven't decided to get it as a 14lb or 15 lb ball. Rob Mautner from BTM magazine said that different weights are not a good idea. He said it screws up your timing. I have been doing this for over a year now and it doesn't seem to bother me.

Sometimes I start out league night with my 15lb Anger ball and use the 14lb Blue Hammer for certain spares. Other times I start out using my Blue 14lb for a strike and spare ball. When the Blue doesn't like the lane condition I go to the 15lb Anger for my strike ball and spare leaves right of the 6 pin and the Blue 14lb for spares from the 5 pin left-I am left handed. That one pound difference doesn't seem to bother me as far as timing. Maybe if I was going from a 16lb ball to a 14lb ball it would mess with my timing.

Does anyone here have different weights in your arsenal that are maybe just a pound different or do you stay with all of the same weights?

All the same weights here. It's not just Rob that says that, many top end coaches will say the same thing.

At the moment I have two different weights 16 & 15, That's because I'm phasing out the 16's and going to 15. Otherwise I would have all the same weight's.

Like vdubtx said it's not just Rob, pretty much all say don't mix weights.

I have been using a 15lb primarily. Then bought a ball for synthetics that was 16lb. Then recently retired my 15lb ball and now use two 16lb balls. Been tempted to un-retire the 15lber to have a "mini-arsenal" but I'm trying to stay with one weight.

Personally I didn't notice much difference throwing two weights. I find 16lbs more controllable because it keeps me from throwing it too hard/fast/lofting it high/etc…

ETA: And…16lbers are usually found at quite the bargain.

It's not just coaches that say not to mix weights. It's probably the only thing that coaches and ball drillers both agree on. If you think it's not messing with your timing, settle on a weight and find out in retrospect how much it really was.

Maybe because of my age of 67 I will get a 14lb Storm Lights Out ball. Unfortunately I am not getting younger. Maybe I should replace my 15lb Anger ball. I wonder what ball would be similar to the Raw Hammer Anger ball? I really like the action of the Anger. I can play deep and make it hook to the pocket with no trouble.

I use 15# equipment with the exception of one 14# ball. The 14 is only used under certain parameters. Also, I agree with those who say, stick to one weight. Unless of course it is, BEER ! ! !

I just recently learned that Molson is not only more expensive (but worth it) to buy than American beers but it is also 11.5 oz instead of 12.
