Thread: Back pain while bowling the first couple of games?

Default Back pain while bowling the first couple of games?

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I find myself having to sit down every couple frames to give my back some relief. It goes away as I continue to bowl. What could this be caused by? Would something like this help alleviate it?

I assume you're talking about open or practice bowling where you're you are throwing ball after ball without having to wait for anyone else to bowl on your lane.

Disclaimer: I am not a doctor, physical therapist, or personal trainer. Persistent or recurring back pain should be evaluated by a medical professional to make sure that it is not a serious problem.

It sounds like it is just muscle stiffness since it goes away as you bowl. The warm up suggested in the link should help some. Current thinking is that any stretches should be done with the muscles warm, so 5 minutes of easy jogging or brisk walking prior to the stretches would be good. Also a regular program of exercises to strengthen your core muscles would help.
