Default Need some help... Please view video

I just started back bowling after a 2 year break. When i quit I was averaging 220 - 225. Now im struggling to average 205. Could yall take a min and watch the video of my approach and release and give me any input on things I could improve on. I spit in the video because I missed my mark 3 boards to the left and got the ball out late. This is 7 boards right with my feet and 5 with my mark than my typical setup. Also im using a Hammer Back Lash drilled pin up with 4000 grit abralon and fresh polish. High speed/high rev bowler. Was practicing throwing over 10. I would appreciate any help.

Let me know if the link works. First time uploading to youtube.

What im trying to do is become more consistent. I seem to miss my target left or right 2 - 3 boards. Im wondering if its something with my timing causing it. But if any other problems are noticed please feel free to let me know.

Wow, footwork! From the look of the video, you seem to be under 6' tall, and you are using a 4 step approach, yet you are standing nearly all the way back on the approach. With steps that are this long, and this fast, it's virutally impossible to throw two shots the same. It's kind of like a footrace, and each result is different. If there is a certified coach in your area (preferably silver level or above), spend the time and the money to take a lesson. One should do it. You won't be disappointed with the results.

My recommendation is to take a longer video - one shot really doesn't show anything. Just what you did on that one shot. And the camera needs to be landscape oriented not portrait. I think the resident experts here could tell you more if they saw 5-6 shots. To me it seems like a rushed shot like Rob said. Move up about 5' and take a slower approach.

I'll try to get my wife to take some videos tomorrow night during league to post. I'll move up to the next set of dots and see what kind of results I get. Would that be preferred vs changing to a 5 step approach? Also there is only 1 certified coach listed in Louisiana and I personally know the guy already and I don't think he can help me. He used to own the pro shop at the house in town.

With viewing this one shot, your head appears to move to the left just before the last step/slide and release. At the point in the backswing when the ball is above your head, you look steady. Your game is very aggressive with high speed and backswing. A small variance in delivery can cause a large difference in consistency downlane. Make another video, and I will comment further.

I see the head movement too. Not maintaining posture at release can be a sign of muscling the ball at the last second. Be smooth and steady especially through release. If that initially costs some speed, so be it. The speed may come back but I don't know if you even need as much speed as you have.

I think it looks nice. I wish I could get that backswing and speed and still get some semblance of movement on synthetic lanes.

But obviously I defer to the experts.

I'm going to try moving up tonight. I have made the move before and lost very little if any speed. Maybe it will help be steady through my release as well as help the consistency of crossing my mark. I will get additional videos tonight. Since it's league I will only be able to get them from behind. But I'll try to get 3 or 4. I really appreciate y'all's help.

Moving up or back probably won't change your speed because your speed comes from a combination of the high back swing, the strong 3rd step push, and the raising of the shoulders at the release.

The first thing to try, is to not pull up at the foul line.

That will reduce the "whip" motion.

You can also try for a lower back swing, but that will have an effect on your timing.. (save that for the off season)

I just wonder if my fast foot work is causing me to speed up my back swing to catch up which in return is causing the whip motion and jerking of my head?
