I suspect you may be close to right here!

If the cores don't matter and nearly every one has an RG of 2.50 +/- .09....and all the differentials are essentially 0.045-0.050...the only true difference is coverstock and potentially a fragarance. And coverstocks can be changed with a ball spinner and abralon pad...so just get any ball you can find on sale and drill/surface it to do what you want...which is probably "go long and snap back hard into the pocket".

I believe that Iceman should get a spare ball like the one Bill Murray used in Kingpin. The clear ball that had the red rose inside. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ci6YPGQedr0 Go Ernie McCracken

Or the one Jeanine Garafalo used in "Mystery Men" -- the clear one with Daddy's skull inside...

I'd be willing to be that the big tour players all use balls that have roughly the same specs -- just made by their particular sponsors.

Coverstocks are about chemistry, you're thinking surface roughness.

All those numbers make a difference, once you throw the ball consistent enough to see the differences.

Someone needs to watch Rob's video comparing asymmetric and symmetric cores and how it had zero effect…when thrown by an above average if not very good bowler.

Who did Rob get to throw the ball for him?

I'm assuming you are talking about the video linked in message #11 of the "The curse of Game 2!!" thread.

While both balls have about the same MinRG, the diffs are different with the IQ Fusion being lower.

That means that the RG of the PAP will likely be lower on the IQ Fusion if drilled the same as the Genius.

If you notice in the video, there is very little RPM in the ball from the hand, so almost all of the final RPMS come from lane friction.

Since the IQ Fusion has the lower RG of the PAP, it will convert forward speed to RPM easier/faster which allows the ball to change direction a little more.
