Default Grip pressure and ball weight?

It occurred to me in another thread dealing with callouses, that my ball may not have been drilled right (and may have been too heavy, as well). So, my questions are: 1) Is your hand supposed to be more-or-less relaxed when throwing? Mine never was. In fact, I ended up having the thumb hold plugged and redrilled a hair closer to the fingers. My hand always felt too stretched, with what felt like waaaay too much pressure on the inside of my thumb at the edge of the hole. 2) Was my ball too heavy for me? I always felt like I reeeeally had to grip the ball, and I always felt as if I was fighting the ball rather than working with it -- that the ball was throwing me, rather than me throwing the ball. Thoughts?

For the most part yes it's relaxed, you shouldn't feel stretched or be squeezing/gripping the ball.

This test is from Ron Clifton's article "WHAT WEIGHT BALL? COULD 14 LBS BE YOUR "SWEET WEIGHT"?

    Ron Clifton:
"The first thing I check when trying to pick a ball weight is the persons wrist strength. I have them hold the ball down by their side with their wrist relaxed. Then I ask them to cup their wrist forward. They should be able to hold that position for a slow count to 10 or the ball is too heavy."
