I like to wear shirts that advertise the hobby. For example, when I fly, I wear one of my Van's Aircraft shirts, or an Airventure T-shirt. When I play music, I like to wear a Gibson T-shirt or my DR Strings T-shirt. I don't notice a lot of "bowling apparel" on the lanes -- not a lot of polos with Storm logos, or Hammer T-shirts. Nor did people wear a lot of that stuff "back in the day." I do notice the pros wearing that sort of thing. Is the wearing of such shirts considered pretentious or nerdy on the lanes? or is it just that folks in my location don't do that sort of thing? Does anyone here routinely wear "logo shirts" when you bowl?

Not that I have seen. also it's not like a lot of pro shops just have bowling shirts on hand. I'm not just going to drop a Bright Orange hammer/C300 shirt on a leave the house to kick it with my wife. But if it was just a simple shirt that I could pick up at my local pro shop I'm game.

The pro wears Hammer shirts in the shop, but then he's a rep for Hammer.

Only ones I have seen are team shirts during league play (and usually those are sponsored by a local business). There are other ones you can find online but you don't really see the brand shirts on the lane at all except in tournaments.

There are a couple guys in my leagues that wear nothing but a Storm jersey type shirt or a Hammer sub dye T-shirt every time they bowl. They aren't sponsored or anything, not really very good bowlers either. Guess they have sworn allegiance to the brand.

I suggest a shirt with a picture of Aslan that reads:

1 handed bowlers are hall of famers, 2 handed bowlers are cheaters

Aslan PBA champion t-shirt yet to be released but when it does it's going to be a hot commodity

I wear a polo when I bowl with my company's logo on it, cause that's a great use of free advertising.

I wouldn't pay a dime to advertise for someone else. So, if anyone wants to give me free shirts or pay me to advertise, I'll wear 'em.

$50 says on any given league night in any alley in Ohio there will be at least 3 people wearing "Ohio State" apparrel. Having spent waaay too much time in Ohio...it's the most pathetic thing I've come across....an entire state so horrible that they all have to allign with a university that 7/8 of them didn't attend.

Granted, when Michigan football is doing well...ya get the same type of thing in Michigan...but not NEARLY as bad.

Sorry. A huge pet peeve of mine...people who wear college apparel for schools they didn't attend.

Ooops. I got so worked up I forgot to respond to the OP.

I am one of the few that wears bowling apparel on league night. I have a nice collection of bowling shirts that I got off Ebay and I rotate through them. I do it because they are comfortable and to pay homage to the sport as it was back in the day. And I get quite a few compliments on my bowling shirts. Not just strictly "bowling shirts"...but havannas, jerseys, long button downs...that type of thing. If you click on the link in my USBC number, you can go to my youtube videos where I wear a handful of different bowling shirts. The interesting thing is how expensive some of the old bowling shirts go for on Ebay. A lot of the cool 1960s bowling shirts will go for $60 and up. For a USED shirt. But the vintage stuff, unique stuff like that commands a hefty price. Some of the coolest ones are old "Elks Club" bowling shirts or things like that. I think it's a combination of so few unique jerseys being around today and the quality and skill that went into making those bowling shirts of the past.

Tonight I'm wearing a 1970s retro Columbia300 older style polo. When I wore it in my former Thursday league, one of the guys working in the pro shop complimented me saying he hasn't seen that shirt in a LONG time. The only "jersey" I have is a Storm red/white/blue jersey...which I wear once in awhile. But it's a half size small for my liking and I prefer the more roomy button downs to the jerseys.

It'd be nice if all the teams had jerseys, but with so few teams sponsored by companies/churches/etc..., buying jerseys can get expensive. A few teams in tonight's league have jerseys. A couple went the cheaper route and got matching team t-shirts.
