    Saturday practice

Decided to go get some practice in today fall leagues don't start until next week for me so I'm getting edgy. Haven't bowled in a week which is unusual for me.

Game #1 169- threw the asylum was leaving lots of 10 pins and my spare shooting was off but I was putting the ball in the pocket pretty well tried a couple different lines but just didn't seem to matter too many ten pins I got about 60% of them which I wasn't happy with. I don't usually bowl well with the asylum when the oils not fresh so decided to change to the euphoria of the next game.

Game #2 167- had the same issue with the euphoria lots of ten pins still hitting the pocket consistently and missing spare I should have made.

Game #3 170- pretty much same as #1 and #2

Well I was consistent and put the ball pretty much where I wanted just never seemed to get the reaction I was looking for in any of the games. But the release was good and I was hitting my mark so I'm going to chalk it up to a success. I tried multiple lines and just didn't seem to have what I needed to strike on a consistent basis today.

    Sunday practice Venture lanes

Game 1- 179 started off okay was clean except for a missed 10 pin and a split in the tenth

Game 2- 193 started off terrible couldn't pick up a spare to save my life threw the final five balls for strikes to salvage a decent game

Game 3- 165 threw the first two strikes felt good still couldn't make a spare I threw six strikes in this game and ended up with a 165 that is pathetic . I finally picked up a ten pin in the tenth for the only spare of the game.

My strike ball was on my spare ball never showed up. If it was a single pin spare I missed it. On multiple pin spares I either hit them like I normally do and something bad happened or I chopped it. The lanes were more heavily oiled today and the asylum was like a knife threw hot butter today but the spares I was just off.

    Friday Night Mixed League

Finally started the season my first fall league in twenty years. It seemed like my ball speed was a little slower or maybe it was due to it being cooler out but I struggled with the asylum early wanting to take off and be inconsistent. I should have shelved it right at the start but didn't.

Game 1- 158 threw the asylum through the first 7 frames and changed to the euphoria but struggled to find a line that worked.

Game 2- 160 missed some spares and left a lot of 7 pins. Seemed to be in the pocket but just leaving pins on every throw finally got some strikes at the end to get the 160.

Game 3- 198 finally seemed to find a line that got some strikes and made my spares this game would have been better but I came in light to leave a bucket in the tenth that I chopped.

Altogether shot 512 which I can live with but I really expect higher scores on a night when I'm in the pocket with good hits consistently. I don't like it when I leave thinking I bowled better than the scores reflect.

Good finish though and over 500. For some reason 500 is kinda that magic number for me where if I leave with a >500 I'm not too upset. Obviously, the last 2 months I've been VERY upset VERY often.

I know what your talking about. We all go through spells like that. I think the thing that frustrated me was I felt I threw it really well and didn't have the scores to go with it the first two games.

Pinpal or a similar app will help with that. Now I can look at the stats and know if I really threw it as well as the score dictates or if I threw it better than the score dictates.

Yeah I've thought about that. Would love to have access to the numbers but I've been afraid it would pull my mind away from what I'm doing. Still thinking about it.

I keep mine on paper and then put into the program after bowling. It's quick and I don't have to really concentrate on what happened, I just mark my paper. That way I don't tend to "analyze" while I'm bowling, but I sure can Monday morning quarterback. But, I'm a bit old school and don't mind pen and paper...sometimes I doodle just to relax more.

    Sunday practice

Went with the wife and kids decided to practice with the even though I had league tonight. Wanted to work on throwing the asylum a little farther left with tighter lines. Lanes were perfect for this today.

Game 1- 152 played okay not so great on the spares was still struggling with either sending the ball out to wide too quickly or not getting enough angle on it.

Game 2- 174 spare shooting improved and I was getting the line I wanted dialed in better. Working on standing 25-30 throwing across 15 at the arrows but trying to keep the breakpoint at ten and no farther out.

Game 3- 196 got on a roll and was throwing really well had a couple of splits.

All in all good practice session also the pro shop guy told me at the last second on my release I'm losing the cup on my wrist which was slowing my ball speed Dow so I worked on that some too.
