Default How many balls does a house league need

Can a person take too many bowling balls with them to league? Now I am talking House oil, not sports! I have been told by some teammates to just bring 3 balls max to league! They say I change balls to quickly, and often!

Hey I am just trying to find the Right tool, for the right job!! ( Getting that puppy into the pocket and making strikes)!
I am beginning to think that they just might be right!

Could it be that instead of trying to find the right BALL, I should be working on finding the right release, position, and arrows to use?

I know sports patterns are a whole new ball game, but on your week after week all winter long THS, is it True that most bowlers only need a 3 ball bag!

Should Iceman leave his 6 bagger home, and save it for when he does sports patterns?
Do I have that dreaded disease,,, ( Ball-U-lid ice)?? Iceman

Ice there is nothing wrong with taking 6 to league with you now if your putting them all on the ball return that is annoying (have some guys in my house that do). I only own the one ball but I have always though outside of sport conditions one could do fine with three strike balls and a spare ball. You should have one that is your middle of the road (your favorite and something that reads the lane well), something with a similar shape that is weaker for if you need to ball down, and lastly something stronger maybe with a different shape if you need to move inside or just need a different look.

If you use too many different balls it does lead to not knowing your equipment well enough and matching equipment is an art. It doesn't do you much good to have a good shot for 2 games with an arc ball and then ball down to a skid flip that's playing an entire different part of the lane.

Multiple balls are more for being able to stay in one particular part of the lane as the lane transitions not because that one doesn't look good lets try this one.

NO,,, I don't put all 6 on the ball return area. I always put my go to ball on top, and my spare ball underneath at our lanes. Most lanes around here have a double rack system now days, knowing that most modern bowlers use a spare ball along with their Go-to-ball!

I think that bring too many balls might be a mistake in my case! I find myself not exploring the options that a given ball offers, due to the Limited Time involved in bowing just 3 games. ITs not always a ball that's NOT WORKING, more times then not, its me not taking advantage of what a GIVEN BALL has to OFFER!

How I play THAT ball, ( targeting, speed, hand, timing ect ect) I am almost sure I change balls too often,,, I need to talk to a Coach!

Depends why you are changing balls. I don't see reactions on a house shot change all that much, you are likely changing balls due to something physical in the shot vs. the ball not doing it's thing. By physical I mean, your release differing, rotations, break point or target on lane not the same each shot etc...

yeah, i was just going to say that THS really doesn't change enough to warrant that many balls. I'd say 3 is enough: aggressive, weaker/drier, and spare. And sometimes you can use the weaker ball as a spare ball.

Talk about perfect timing! For those of who don't know it yet, Bowling This Month is back up an running as an online publication. I just submitted my latest article this morning that deals with this very subject: how to set up a league arsenal and how many balls should be in it. If you haven't already done so, go to the BTM website and subscribe - it's well worth it.

I second rv driver. I'd also say 3 would be enough. or 3 and your spare ball. One can be for heavy to start, then middle of the road, and then one for when it breaks down.
    My bowling balls include:
Brunswick Brute Strength, Brunswick Mastermind Genius, DV8 Endless Nightmare, DV8 Diva, DV8 Diva Pearl, DV8 Marauder Mutiny, & Brunswick White Viz-A-Ball spare ball
