Default How do you establish a good layout for yourself?

I am pretty sure the two balls I have now have standard layouts on them. How do you go about getting a layout that is the best for you? Do you find your PAP first and go from there? Can the ball driller in the pro shop watch you bowl and be able to figure a good layout that would work the best for you? The pro shop is in the house I bowl on league night.

A proficient pro shop operator should be able to suggest a good layout for you. Lane surface, oil patter, ball speed and rev rate are 4 of the major considerations. Lower speed players tend to need larger drill angles to help get length. Also longer pin to pap distances to control flare. Higher speeds need lower drill angles and shorter pin to pap distances to increase flaare and slow the ball down quicker. Rev rate and desired motion determinee VAL angles lower rev players tend to use lower angles to get the ball to corner harder while higher rev players use higher angles to lessen the snap their revs provide
