    Default more hand

Anyone have any links to videos that show how to get more hand in the ball? I am a stroker, but physically capable of throwing a bigger hook. I would like to add it to my game. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

well you can start here with this thread:

click here for video of -Analysis-of-the-modern-10-Pin-Bowling-Swing-and-Release

One thing to remember, If try to make a ball hook you'll most likely make it act erratically. Work on having a good clean consistent release and let the ball do work.

As bowl1820 said the more you try to do to the ball
to get a bigger hook usually you will get less hook and
more of a erratica response out of the ball.

A person does not really need a great big sweeping hook
ball to score well and as the old saying goes you can always
throw a big hook ball for show and throw a smooth and
controllable straight ball for all of the dough $$$$

My first game tonight I was throwing my asylum I moved my hand back inside of the ball a little farther than normal and increased my cup a little on the wrist. I had more revs than I've ever had. Learned something important though aggressive ball vs more revs vs my ball speed doesn't work well. The ball was arcing across the lane. TCCSTUDENT has mentioned he wanted his asylum redrilled after a game of this I understood why. Ended up with a 139. Figured it out went back to my normal release 181-217.

The huge hook is pretty to watch but not always the best option.

I like that old saying. I never even heard of it. That's deep. I'm more low-med rev sided so that makes me feel a little better. Thanks for sharing that saying, got_a_300

Funny how things change yet remain the same. the old saying after that one was "Crank and go to the bank, stroke and go broke." Now we are back to hook for show and straight for dough.

The old bowling saying originally goes, "Strike for show, spare for dough."

It was used to show the importance of spare shooting.

Oh. well I don't know where these analogies get grabbed from or how y'all heard of them. Must've been long time ago, huh?
