    Default So many games today!!

I bowled so many games today and my thumb is sore! I bowled a total of 15 games, plus 15 minutes of practice with my league, so I'd say about 16 games within a 6 hour period. Ever since I got my new ball, I have been bowling the best I have ever bowled in my life! I went to Brunswick in the early afternoon and bowled 8 games with my scores listed below. I then went to my league at 6pm at AMF and had 15 minutes of practice time and then bowled 3 league games and then another 4 games after...I am beat! #totallyworthit

    Brunswick
    1. 179
    2. 144
    3. 141
    4. 145
    5. 132
    6. 124 (fatigue, pizza and soda start to kick in here)
    7. 109
    8. 104

    AMF (League Games)
    1. 127
    2. 153
    3. 138

AMF (Played after League games were over)
    1. 129
    2. 125
    3. 142
    4. 118

Wow! I could never bowl that many. When I got a new ball I did 10. Five in the afternoon and then five more later on. I shouldn't have as I got a nasty blister and torn skin.

Remember it is better to not speed bowl but to take your time and understand what your doing. Many times when i practice i only bowl 4-5 games in a 2 hour period. Throw some shots and stop and think about what the ball is doing and how it feels throwing the ball. Look around and see what other bowlers are doing that might work for you. Things that you can incorporate in your game.

While I don't know what you paid for lineage, you might want to consider saving your money for a lesson with a qualified coach. Bowling 15 games with only two scores over 150 says that you could use some direction. Muscle memory takes 1500 repititions to establish, and your scores indicate that you may not be establishing muscle memory that will allow you to improve. Don't get me wrong. Practice is admirable, but please consider getting some guideance so that you can practice some things that are going to help you to improve.

My first thought when reading this Rob, was Aslan, the soon to be kitty cat! You have coached him, dose he lack Muscle in the location of memory??

I know one thing Rob,,, he is going to have no problem Remembering our meeting on Sept 24th! I mean this from the bottom of my heart,,, I hope I don't destroy him!!!!

I am REALLY looking forward to meeting YOU, and what's his name.... The bowling wonder from San Diego!! I just HOPE he doesn't Chicken out!
I will be traveling a total of 3000 miles for the sole purpose of taming the LION!

Question: Does Aslan have muscle memory, or is it just and empty meat locker???

Also, bowling so many games, you gotta take it easy. Over doing it can cause some serious injury even though you may feel alright.

Nice bowling, glad to hear you're improving.

I think we can all attest to your excitement for getting a new ball and experiencing an increase in scores. However, bowling past the point of fatigue isn't helping. You mentioned that fatigue starting hitting you in the 6th game. I suggest you limit yourself to 6 games per session. Otherwise, you put your self at risk of developing bad technique, as well as injury.

To me, that is what practice is really about. Take your time and practice with a purpose. Concentrate on form/technique and you'll notice the scores will reflect that.

I was really sore the next day, but I was out of town all last week and was only able to bowl 3 games. I went with a buddy who averages low to mid 200's. He gave me some pointers and tips and told me I needed to work on my follow through and always end with my thumb pointing upwards and ending at my eye line, so that I can see whether my wrist turned at all during release. I also have to get used to not letting my wrist give under the weight of the ball and to force it to stay cupped under the ball. Obviously, I am going to have to get used to this, but as soon as I have some extra money, I am going to try and take a lesson or two to get some real guidance.

Thanks for all of the tips everyone.

Back in the early to mid 90's I would practice around 20+
games a day and then bowl 3 more in leagues 5 nights a
week so I was bowling on average 155 games per week
unless I was off bowling in a tournament some where.

If you are planing on bowling quite a few games per day or
per week take it easy until you get used to it don't try to do
    a bunch in one day.

Now days I may at best bowl 6 or so games a week most of
the time it is only 3 games at league as my old body just can't
handle that many games at a time anymore.
