    Default Help with dry conditions

Showed up for the first week of Fall league. The lanes were dry as can be. I have a Hammer First Blood and Spike. I couldn't keep either on the right side of the pocket. I usually slide at 20, hit 15 at the arrows and 5-7 at the breakpoint. I kept moving left until I was at 35 with my slide, hit 20 at the arrows, 7-10 break point. I was either high or Brooklyn at the pins. What the hell should I do if I have the same scenario?

Others will be able to help you better than me, but usually adding some speed to it will help. Do you have the blue black Spike which is a Pearl or the hybrid the orange blue? Both are dry to medium oil balls. Little speed should help you out. The First Blood is a heavy oil ball so try to avoid on dry lanes.

    They didn't oil before league?

Wow, that's doesn't sound normal. They must be using budget oil. I would suggest letting the pro shop know. They should be able to shine up your Spike to get max skid. It should help some. Also, you may want to practice some first but you can try a weaker hand position.

You could always consider maybe using just a little more loft and
(or) try to pick out a spot farther down the lane and project the
ball a little farther down the lanes to delay the hook some.

Wish I could find some dry conditions around here to practice on....I haven't thrown my Meanstreak Brawler since July when I was in the tournament in Vegas. Sure showed that I don't get that condition much. All these suggestions are good ones. Hopefully it was just a one time fluke and you won't have to deal with it every week.

Hopefully your first week was just a fluke so I would wait to seet what week two brings before messing with your equipment. You may need to move even deeper on the lane. For example when I prebowled for my last week of summer league the lanes were torched. As this center normally has a decent amount of volume I did not have my Recon or Ascent pearl with me. I ended up throwing my gold IQ Tour pearl sliding 50 with a lay down of 37 targeting 23 and a breakpoint around 12 on the right lane and the same line with my Fusion on the left

i have to agree that doesn't sound like typical house shot conditions, but in that situation just add speed, or lessen the amount of hand you put into the ball. i experienced this in my first night of league as well three weeks ago, i was using my black widow pearl and just played it hard and straight up the ten and still managed to set a 180 average.

Emery, when was the ball hooking too much? Was this a case of the ball was hooking early and a lot or was it getting down lane and screaming off the back ends?
