A historic year in which he became the first bowler to win three consecutive Professional Bowlers Association major championships has landed Norm Duke of Clermont, Fla., a berth at the head of the 2008 class of U.S. Bowler All-Americans.

Duke, who went to the bank with a PBA-best $229,350 in earnings, won the Denny's PBA World Championship in Indianapolis in February, the Denny's U.S. Open in North Brunswick, N.J., in March, and the PBA World Championship in Wichita, Kan., in October. Ironically he started the year in an injury-riddled slump that put him on the brink of losing his exemption to bowl on the Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour during the 2008-09 season.

For the calendar year, however, Duke's performance was unmatched as he earned honorary captain honors as leading vote-getter on the men's All-America squad. It was his eighth berth on the All-America first team, and his first as captain.

Joining Duke on the men's All-America team are: two-time PBA champions in 2008 Chris Barnes, Double Oak, Texas; Wes Malott, Argyle, Texas; Mike Scroggins, Amarillo, Texas; and Walter Ray Williams Jr., Ocala, Fla. Malott and Scroggins earned their first All-America berths; Williams extended his record to 17 years on the elite squad.

U.S. Bowler, the official membership publication of the United States Bowling Congress, also recognizes five women and five senior All-Americans.

Carolyn Dorin-Ballard of Keller, Texas, was women's honorary captain in landing her 11th career All-America berth. She had top three finishes in the U.S. Women's Open and three PBA Women's Series events, including a victory in the Cheetah Championship in Cheektowaga, N.Y. Joining her on the women's All-America team were Liz Johnson, Cheektowaga, N.Y.; USBC Queens and Bowling's Clash of Champions winner Lynda Barnes, Double Oak, Texas; two-time PBA Women's Series champ Michelle Feldman, Auburn, N.Y.; and Diandra Asbaty, Chicago, and Kelly Kulick, Union, N.J., who tied for the fifth spot.

Tom Baker of King, N.C., who has dominated the PBA Senior Tour since turning 50, made the Senior All-America squad for the fourth consecutive year, but his three-year run as honorary captain was ended by Senior Tour rookie Wayne Webb of Sacramento, Calif. Webb's victory in the Senior U.S. Open helped him top the PBA Senior Tour in earnings despite a limited schedule of six events. He topped veteran Johnny Petraglia of Jackson, N.J., in the Senior All-America voting with Baker third, newcomer Kenny Parks of Hammond, Ind., the 2008 USBC Senior Masters champion, fourth and another Senior Tour rookie, Brian Brazeau of Ocala, Fla., claiming the fifth Senior All-America berth.

The U.S. Bowler All-America teams are selected in voting by a national panel of bowling journalists and USBC association leaders. Each All-American will be presented with a customized crystal trophy.
