drill pattern for dry condition ball

My Hypercell has a 4x4x2 layout, my optimus also has 4x4x2 layout, both balls have different looks..So, should I drill a much less aggressive ball designed for dry conditions 4x4x2 and expect a result based on ball dynamics or do I need to look at different layouts? I have just bought a Motiv Ascent Apex for the dryer conditions and was in question the drilling pattern on this ball. thanks
