I vote 24 foot of oil.

That eliminates the guiding wall of oil, and makes the hook monster balls unusable.

Then it's a true test of who can be both accurate, and throw the ball strong enough to carry.

But maybe that would be too hard for the boys from KC.

LEARN to throw all your spares with plastic, or like Norm Dude, and ICEMAN, palm up, Straight balls, with NO hook end over end roll, in my case. I am seriously thinking Both plastic, and that release!

Sure I can pick the 7 pin up EVERYTIME on THS throwing a strike ball over 2nd arrow. and many other spares on the left side of the head pin, but with something like even the White and Blue the oil can and does play havoc with picking it up! I hear the U.S. open is a real bear-cat to try conventional spare pick-ups used on THS!

What I am going to do now after this learning experience is, GET A PLASTIC BALL, and use it for ALL,,,, ALL spares. It will pay off on down the road when I start doing more tournaments, or sports patterns, IF I CAN FIND or EVEN get a group interested in doing Sports Patterns?????

Do they make an ICEMAN spare ball...
    Buy a storm Polar ICE

    1) it's urethane and will last much longer than plastic
    2) still barely moves
    3) has the word ice in it

    You're welcome

That is the ball I use for spares. also hooks nice when there is zero oil out there.

OOOOOO,,, MIkie!!!! Them Big Farm Boys from Plattsburg have grown up on those 6 wood lanes, and you ,,,, YOU think your going to walk in their house and do damage??? LOL.....

We shall see ,,,,, WE SHALL SEE!! LOL.... THEY change the pattern every week.... these boys are fine turned bowling machines that can adapt to anything, including your 24 foot pattern.

I think it will be interesting,,,, I hope the KING OF WOOD comes down too! I doubt Rob would want to take a chance on losing to Aslan, on wood!
so I don't look for him to make the trip.

I hope the whole group comes, Mudpuppy, Rob, Aslan, and you!

The farm boys are looking for some fresh meat!!!

Tempted. I might be moving to the Des Moines area next year...which would definitely put me in the area. Especially if I move to northern Missouri area like Bethany or Maryville. Hey, then I could join your friend Pat in the Missouri Bowling Hall of Fame. That would be cool.

But thats very up in the air right now. I'm hoping I don't have to leave the most wonderful state in the Nation (outside of N.Y. and Oregon) but we'll see.

I use a storm mix, but basically the same thing. Way more value, longevity, and versatility than plastic.

Who knows? I could be dead by next June. I'll let you know when the time comes, but don't rule me out completely.

Storm seems to have dropped the Polar Ice urethane ball but you may still be able to find one.
They do still make the Ice Storm polyester ball.

Some spares are actually easier to hook at, even on a sport shot, than throwing straight. For example shooting straight at the 2-8 leaves almost no room for error. Throw a hook at it and you have a bigger window of opportunity.
