Good point. But since last I checked we tend to only bowl with one ball at a time so having 24 of them drilled in your basement just means you spent an extra $45/ball to have them sit in your basement. Besides, anything can happen. What if you decide you hate having your thumb pitched a certain way? Now you have to plug and re-drill 20 balls. Same thing with a drilling angle or span change. What if you drill every ball assuming you'll stick with VISE or TURBO grips and then change your mind?

Especially with Iceman. This guy is changing his mind about angles and pin placement that are "the most perfect awesomeness ever" just about every 2 weeks. He's a ball driller's DREAM! When he walks in with cardboard boxes...the ball driller must just see $$$$ signs! Hell, he can probably talk him into a new ball during the drilling!! I mean, you're telling me that Iceman ISN'T going to get the Storm Crux when it is released!?? Please.

And also, I'm not entirely confident Iceman knows his arsenal that well. I mean, if you have 3-4 balls...it can take you a LONG time to get a good handle on what does what on what lane conditions and which houses. If your arsenal is expaned to 16 balls...there's all kinds of overlap there. I didn't get to observe this in Vegas, because I think he limited his arsenal to facilitate the cross country motorcycle ride. But I'd be willing to be Ice is more along the lines of the bowlers that violate one of my top pet peeves...which is a bowler that makes ball changes essentially at random for no defined reason other than either 'variety' or 'I missed'.

Good advice from Vdubtx. I bowled on the White pattern last night in the inaugural tournament at the new Bowling Arena a Southpoint (future home of the USBC Nationals in 2016-2018-2020, etc.). It was a ten-gamer starting at 7:30 last night! It was a scratch event, open to all, so the high rev youngsters ripped up the pattern pretty quickly. I started around 12 at the arrows with a medium/aggressive symmetrical ball (Melee Cross), and balled down as I moved left. I went through a progression of 6 balls: Melee Cross, Brute, Meanstreak Brawler, Solid Blue Ringer (polished), and Platinum Ringer. For the last three games, I was so far left (sliding into the left gutter), that I went to a more aggressive skid/flip ball (Fortera Exile), and hooked the lane. I ended up averaging 186 for the ten games, after starting 172-172 (my old body just can't get warmed up in ten minutes of practice). Generally I was happy with my bowling, especially the fact that I had two 200+ games in the last four when the lanes were fried. The best thing about it, though, was that I was able to walk out of the building at 12:30 a.m., lugging 8 bowling balls, without the aid of a wheel chair. Life is good!

not bad bud... I only bowl 3 games in the singles and had a 199 average (,,, but then I am older then you by about 6 months!! LOL I wish I had your ability to ADJUST as the game rolls on! I might move to Vegas for a while, and live with you! We could bowl together for a number of months, as you pass on all your knowledge to ICE! I could do things around the house/yard to earn my keep! Think about it!

You could turn ICEMAN into a monster on the lanes!!! O,,, on that 598 in singes, I went the opposite direction,,, started out with a 220 something, then 191, then a 180 something... KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!!

We shall see today with 5 person teams how the white holds up, and iceman adjusts!

In terms of adjusting, remember this simple rule: If you have any thought that you should move left, move left. It's better to move too far and too fast, than not far enough and not fast enough. An over-adjustment is going to leave you a simple spare like a two pin. An under-adjustment can result in a big four or Greek Church. You can always move a little bit back if you over-adjusted. Good luck!

    Default Iceman is fricken upset!!!

I get to Gladstone Bowling alley 45 minutes early, go back to check in and they don't have me listed to bowl! WOW,, they give me a hand written check for 3 bucks, for not being in the 5 person team! WHAT!!! The lady that TALKED ME into DOING THE DAMN TOURNAMENT, told me to be their at 2pm sunday!

So she screwed up on the time for last week, (saying 1pm, instead of 9am), then this week she said be there at 2pm, and USBC rep's say they don't have me listed at all!

HOT,,, VERY HOT!!!! TWICE they screwed up at Gladstone bowl.

On a side note I found out that I was not bowling a White Pattern last week, but a used white pattern, that had been overlaid from the morning with a house pattern incorrectly, AND they skipped the cleaning cycle do to the fact they didn't have the time, and just put tow layers on top of one another. I got this information from Pat Hendersons Coach, and sponsor! You know I hope that information was B.S. but he said it was why it was so squirrely and many complaints last week.

I am very upset, watching just a few minutes of the warm up tonight, it looked like a pretty easy pattern,,,,,, right off watch several bowling's actually playing the 2nd arrow and getting a nice movement to pocket! (unlike last week when I bowled the two layers of oil)

I was hopping to sub, but no dice!! I guess I will have to wait to actually bowl a WHITE PATTERN LAID DOWN CORRECTLY!! GRRRRR!!

I am very UPSET with the management at this establishment for TWICE GIVING me incorrect INFORMATION!!

Getting HOT, not good when your ICEMAN!!!!

I feel like finding another establishment to bowl at,,,, THIS UPSET ME, I paid the full 60 bucks which was for all three events!!! It wasen't the USBC's fault, but rather the management at the alley!!!! NO excuse for TWO screw-ups, and then the bad oil last week! (if that is true)

I'm sorry about that for you Michael. That stinks to get all fired up about bowling and management screws it up. Those people running tournaments around there need to get it together obviously. I'm sure the REAL MEN BOWL ON WOOD tourney will run flawlessly!!

It's Missouri. They are really good about organizing riots...but not much else.

Better hope that PDW doesn't hear of the way you disparage his home state.

If there was that type of mismanagement during a tournament pete was participating in and affected him negatively, there would probably be a scene.
