Wow, a fight about broke out at my local alley last night ...

But...without rednecks...we wouldn't have bowling. It's just something you gotta accept. I bowled in a Laughlin league once (never will again)...and the entire city of Laughlin is pretty much just a Redneck version of Vegas. It's like a tourist attraction for Rednecks that have never seen a river. I couldn't figure out why all the rednecks were staring at the river and taking pictures until I realized...they live like in Barstow...or southern Nevada or Arizona. I guess, to them, an actual "river" is kinda a cool thing to see...because their whole lives have been spent in a trailer in the middle of a desert. They'd probably soil themselves if they saw the Gulf of Mexico or Pacific Ocean.

Sunrise over the Atlantic Ocean or a full moonrise after dark, may be way too much, for the skidmark population........

So last night my team was bowling on the last pair of lanes next to the extra pair that is kept for league if a lane messes up. Anyways a team came in towards the end of our first game wanting to pre-bowl (I think they are from Tuesday nights because I haven't seen them on any of the other nights I have been there) and asked if they could use the extra pair. So, one of the alley employees went table to table asking if it was ok and some said yes and some said no so since EVERYONE didn't agree it was vetoed and they were forced to bowl on a burnt pair further down. After a while towards the middle of our 3rd game I guess they had finished their pre-bowl and did rather horribly from what I hear but rather than accepting it and moving on one of the guys decided to go table to table in our league making smart *** comments which a few people took personally and there was some yelling, shoving, and name calling but nothing serious luckily.

Now since I am mostly deaf I didn't hear what was said but witnessed the small scuffle and heard 2nd hand about things that were said but it just really sucks when that kind of thing happens and kills the zen in a place. Seemed like everyone got all quiet for a bit and the whole place had a gloom to it. A couple of the guys involved in the scuffle were on the team we were bowling and they completely self destructed and took a game that was close and give us 100 pin win where the other 2 games we barely won.

I am under the impression that the only place to bowl in Laughlin was at the Riverside Casino, so I assume you bowled there.

Yes. It is now the ONLY bowling center in Laughlin.

They do have a poker room there, but I didn't partake.

I didn't see one. I went to what they 'said' was a poker room and it was a bunch of video poker slot machines.

As for the heat.... stop whining... You knew it was in Nevada during the summer. If you didn't expect hot weather, thats on you.

I was prepared for it to be hot. I just wasn't prepared to feel like an ant under a magnifying glass. It's the only place I've ever felt the sun while in the pool underwater. It was miserable. Not as miserable as a bowling tournament in Milwaukee in February or something...but pretty darn miserable.

And it's just unnecessary. Vegas is closer and has at pooload of good, big bowling centers. Why drive through what looks like a nuclear test site to get to Laughlin? Plus, for those that don't drive, Vegas is easy. I don't think Laughlin even has an airport near it.

As for the poker room, something about you made them think you wanted the semi-brain dead slot version of poker, not the table version.

Used to be a bowling alley in Bloomington, IN where kids would hang out and on friday nights they had cheap beer and cosmic bowling. Seen fights there, stabbings, a shooting, and a guy get ran over by a car after a fight over a girl.... I think that bowling lane is closed now thank God. Place was awful

That place was insane for sure. It actually used to be the best bowling alley when I was a kid. The leagues were great, and they had some awesome pool tables. I think they got shut down finally for serving to minors or thats what I heard, which is one reason it was popular when I was a teenager I guess. I dont think they ever carded anyone.
