While bowling....

Last week while bowling, on the lanes next to us, they don't want the tv on. When they are on, the sound is off but we are able to watch football, hockey, basketball, etc. I like to be able to watch tv when it's not my turn. But this other team just refused. And every time they didn't atrike, they would throw their towels, Wauk it against the screen, cuss, etc. can't stand bad sportsmanship. And I can't stand having the tvs off!

I had to bowl while an episode of "The Making of the LA Girls 2014 Calender" was on. Yeah, try bowling through that. I wish I had the remote so I could turn it off.

But it was funny looking around and seeing like every guy staring at it while the ladies on their teams were trying to talk to them. Guys are so predictable.

Every league I have bowled in does not allow TVs to be on since it is too distracting. Bad the other team acted that way but the TVs, IMO, should be off as well.

My gut reaction is to say that if they want to watch TV so bad, they should probably have stayed home. On the flipside, can we afford a still greater decline in league bowling? I don't think so. If the sound is off, what's the problem.

Confirmed! Last time in Las Vegas at a bar, I said, I wish I could hear the sound of the game. Someone pulled out a smartphone and turned up the volume from mute. Boom!

at the bowling alley I bowl at they don't have the tvs out above the lanes or approach's instead they have 52 inch screen behind the bowlers area set up for 1 screen every 3 or 4 pairs of lanes. a few weeks ago I was in a tournament there and on 4 different screen in a row where 4 different games 2 hockey and 2 football it was kinda funny.

we all know each other up there and we have fun joking with people about the team they cheer for there was a group of guys that where fans of the Toronto maple leafs and then other guys fans of the Ottawa senators, this day they where going back and forth saying there teams are better and 1 of the guys that was cheering for Ottawa senators says "are team is better there is 11 of us and only 6 of you" as a joke, it was funny everyone in the bowling alley was just laughing. then it was me and a few friends of mine turn to jump in for are team "the flyers" (I cant spell there city name).

there was 20 of us that cheer for the flyers so we went up and changed both screen to the flyers game then we one of the guys that was with use came out saying theres 20 of us we beat both of your teams still had everyone laughing, then changed the games back. and we went back to watching football

Never seen a TV in a bowling pit. That seems weird to me. I kinda side with Rob here. If you wanna bowl, then bowl. If it's not your turn, you should be taking an interest in how your teammates and opponents are doing. Your head should be in the game -- not just in your game. I can't wait for TVs to show up at golf tournaments and on football fields, so golfers and caddies can watch other games, and so the benchwarmers can watch other games, while their teammates and opponents are busy playing. For my money, league bowling is a team effort, and a team effort requires the support and attention of everyone involved. Leagues aren't simply a vehicle for individuals to "improve their own game." IMO, if that's why you're bowling in a league, you're in a league for the wrong reason. I would refuse to have someone on my team whose head wasn't in the total game.

But that's just me. I'm kinda a purist in that way.
