Default Close but no cigar on Saturday league night........

We lost the 1st game by 4 pins, 2nd by 14 pins and the 3rd game by 8 pins. I bowled games of157, 183 and 204. Not that great for a bowler with a 189 average. My teammates had a rough time not bowling average. Our team handicap is 155 and the opposing team has a 250 handicap. With that big of a spread you have to be on your game. That's bowling for ya. Next time will be better hopefully.

Yeah we've had nights like that too our team handicap is
104 and most of the time we are giving 200 - 300+ pins it
is hard to beat a team when they are all bowling over their
    averages.

Last week we was spotting the team we bowled against around
350 pins and most of them were bowling over 200. One woman
had a 94 average and was bowling 190 and 210 games and one
of the guys had a 108 average and he was bowling 225 and 250
games and the other two were about 80 pins a game over their
averages also so yeah it is hard to beat that.

Have run into that same problem this season. Spotted one team over 100 per game, and they beat us with their scratch scores. Absolutely murdered us with their handicap added in.

Seemingly, you guys are missing he point. Hammer shot 23 pins under his average. His team lost totals by 24 pins. In terms of totals, these results show that handicap WORKS! Regardless of individualt results, USBC studies have shown that handicaps would have to be based on 116% to be truely equitable. As it is now, higher average teams have a huge overall advantage. Hammer is simply saying that you have to be on your game. Duh! Just bowl and stop whining about handicaps. You have the advantage. It doesn't mean that you are going to win all the time, but overall, you will.

I agree Rob handicap does work, but it's not reality! I know, I get it, but I don't have to like it! I don't mind getting beat, makes me work harder to beat that person the next time... EVEN if I never beat that person, I would keep trying! The most common handicaps used suck in my opinion!

I like bowling division... say 100 to 150, 150 to 180,,,, ect ect... I know,,,, I know not enough to put leagues together that way.

Scratch leagues are hard to find,,,,

Lets hypothetically say your team is all 150 average bowlers.

Your opponents are all 100 average bowlers.

Your opponents all bowl games of 125.

Your statement is true. "it is hard to beat a team when they are all bowling over their averages."

Now lets assume your opponents all average 200.

Your opponents all bowl games of 225.

Your statement is still true. "it is hard to beat a team when they are all bowling over their averages."

The handicap (you giving them vs them giving you) really didn't change things did it?

In your area, Sport conditions are hard to find, and Scratch leagues are hard to find.

The only thing to be found in your area is walled up easy house shots.

Either that, or you are Mr. Magoo.

What it all boils down to is if a team with a high handicap bowls over their average then your team with a low handicap better bowl over your averages or you just ain't going to beat them. If anyone of me and my teammates bowled just a little better we would have won everything. This is the frustrating part of bowling when you lose by just a little. What I can take out of this is that I didn't kick the ball return or throw my ball into the floor hard. I just thought to myself oh well! Win or lose I still love to bowl no matter what.

If I am Mr Magoo, your just plain goo!!!

Be here ,,, JUNE 13th, or keep your thoughts about how EASY LANES ARE HERE compared to your West Coast THS to yourself!! I have seen you bowl,,, I think Rob waxed you!! I a pretty sure I could have that day if I would have gotten past Lucky Rob!! How old is Rob,,,O,,, he's 66!! OOO ,,, it must have been that the lanes were too easy, Right MIkeie!!! LOL

I get so tired of you thinking anyone that bowls SUPER, like myself is bowling on walled up house shots! It must be tough bowing in California, where the house shots are much harder,,, ahhhhhh!! I bowl at 3 different NEW establishments! The AMF I use to bowl at is closed.
Yet the Scores keep rolling in HIGH!!! I have posted a few of them... yes ICEMAN can adapt!!

It must be difficult finding a house with a REAL TOUGH HOUSE OIL deserving of your superior talent, knowledge, and skills! LOL What would that pattern be called? NOT Red, white, or blue,,, maybe off pink?? (

We will see what you think of Missouri oil, if your man enough to take the challenge of YOUR LIFE!!!

YES,,, REAL MEN BOWL ON WOOD IN SMALL TOWN USA ...

One thing I will say about the Farm Boys/Men I bowl with,,, They like it challenging!!!! Changing patterns every FRICKEN WEEK! I had two 200's last Thursday on one of there modified 42 foot patterns.... MAKE MY DAY,,,, BE here JUNE 13th,,,, ( I doubt Rob will make the trip, due to his age, so you don't have to worry about him this time,,,, but I will be here wafting, balls in hand)!
