Question Lowest Score after opening with a 7-bagger

I watched my teammate last night roll a 213. Not a specatacular feat given he's a 189 average bowler and rolls a lot of 200+ games.

The spectacular part is...he was riding a 7-bagger and looking at a potential 300-game when he got on the approach in the 8th frame.

How did he do that you ask?

Well, in the 8th, on the approach, he fell. He had went to the bathroom after frame 7 and he said his shoe was wet or something. So...

The other team counted ball 1 as a FOUL rather than a "9" (even with the fall he only left a 7-pin)...he then shot a "9" on the second ball...that gave him a 189 in the 8th.

Next shot he left the 6-10. He chopped the 10 off giving him a 198 in the 9th.

In the 10th, he left the big four...and missed through the middle for a 6-count giving him a 213.

For comparison sake...I had the second highest score for our team that game and shot a 191.
I only struck 3 times, a single in the 2nd and a double in the 5th and 6th. But I knocked down 8 or 9 pins every time I didn't strike and only missed one spare opportunity (single 7-pin in the 3rd).

Had he not fouled...and just made those last couple easy spares and knocked over a couple of the 4 in the 10th...even with it not being clean...he'd have had a 241.

Just thought that was odd. I've only ever rolled a 7-bagger TWICE and ended up with a 256 and a 223. I don't think I ever saw someone score < 220 with a 7-bagger. My 223 was starting off with a chopped 1-3-6 then picking up a baby 3-10 split, then the 7-bagger and ending with a gutter ball and 7 count. Had I missed the baby split, I guess that would have been a 212. But man...< 220 with a 7-bagger!!? OUCH.

And I've never OPENED with a 7-bagger. I had the one above that started in the 3rd frame and ended in the 9th. And the 256 score was closing with a 7-bagger starting in the 6th. Had I not thrown a 7-10 split in the 5th...and struck instead...it would have been an 11 in-a-row trophy 290 (opened with a 9 / left a 4-pin on the first shot).

There's a lot of Woulda-Coulda-Shoulda's in that post.

I seen a guy throw a gutter in the 10th after the getting the front 9. I wont be too surprised seeing anything after that.

It wasn't the front 7, but one of my customers (about 220 average) started the night with 5 splits, giving him 41 in the 5th frame, then threw the last 7 for a 191 game.

aslan your numbers are a frame behind.

    in the 7th he had a 189

    in the 8th 198

    in the 9th 207

    in the 10th 213

with the numbers you put up would only give him a 204 (9th frame)198 + (10th frame) 6 = 204 your mixing up your frames it would be the 198 in the 8th frame

Being a schmuck w/120 average I have only had the pleasure of reaching a four bagger for a 170 sumpthin'. One game found me tagging the headpin and leaving two standing as goal posts. Four times I accomplished that feat w/same two pins and at least one more open frame if not more. I struck out in the tenth walking away w/133 and a sense of accomplishment.

Don't feel bad. It's taken about 1450 games for me to amass TWO 7-baggers.

And thousands of dollars, thousands of internet posts, days of watching bowling footage and reading technique articles, and multiple lessons.
