Oh the war on drugs could be won we just don't have the balls to do what it would take to win it. Mandatory 6 month treatment program first offense possession and six months probation with community service (not talking about talking to kids actual labor in the community), Second offense a year in jail. If your caught dealing death penalty not 10 years in prison and hundred trials they just take you out back and put a bullet in you. Problem solved in about 2 years.

Well, I agree and disagree. The war on drugs "might" be effective or at least MORE effective if it was taken to the producers of said material. Attacking the end users just isn't going to work and it never has. But a full-scale military assault on South American drug targets and assassination of high level cartel targets as well as corrupt South American officials could severely disrupt drug availability and profitability.

On the downside...it makes it even more expensive and drives it even further underground. Legalization for users/retailers, support for programs to control the negative societal effects, AND tougher enforcement against illegal sources is how you have to deal with it if ya ever want to deal with it effectively. But like most political issues, it's easier to closer our eyes and pretend its not a problem than actually do something about it.

It's like prostitution. It's "hard" to catch the pimps and human trafficers...so they just bust the girls. But they quickly realized, the girls were actually more like victims in most cases than criminals. So then they decide the next easiest thing is to bust the johns. But...that doesn't solve the problem...it just drives it further underground.

Drugs...same way. Much easier to bust some college kid with a joint in his pocket...but that doesn't solve the problem. And once people are "addicts"...they are almost more like victims than criminals. But catching the smugglers and manufacturers....well, thats "hard"...so they don't want to do that.

Thats why I'm pro legalization of all of it. If pot were recreationally legal in all 50 states...and they lowered the absurd taxes/regulations to just slightly above cigarette levels...they'd cripple the cartells. The cartels would still have the harder drugs...but if those are legal...then what? Prostitution? But if thats legal? The cartels will start running out of illegal stuff to sell. They'll have to go back to riskier stuff like hijacking, murder, guns.

Would there be "issues"? Absolutely. Addictions...diseases...traffic crimes...youth programs/situations...zoning, etc.., etc..., etc... But we already have those issues. Having it out in the open will help shine a light on what communities can do to deal with it. I'm not a big fan of legalized gambling...but it's a lot safer to do now in a casino than it was back in the day where you were using mob bookys or involved in some underground gambling outfit.

Sometimes ya fight the fights you can win...and recognize the ones you lost. Most of life is choosing the lesser of 2 evils...not choosing right from wrong.

Remember when Michigan lost to Appalachian State? THEY WERE ALL HIGH AS H3LL THAT DAY - they wanted to see how high they could get and still beat App State. Guess they took one too many tokes.

Really who cares - tobacco and alcohol are FAR more destructive than a natural occurring plant that has millions of uses. It's banned because of big oil, paper and other industries who would lose trillions in profit. And all the sheep of the country just nod their heads - the gateway drug, it makes men evil and eat their own children, mind altering causing eternal chaos. Whatever other bs they feed the sheople and they eat it like a sh!t sammich and ask for more - please more runny this time with only a few chunks.
