But when it's busy....
So I go to practice this past week...going NUTS with this holiday downtime from bowling...and I bring my daughter and her friend.
Normally, I like bowling on two lanes;
1) I don't burn the lane up a quickly.
20 It adds a little degree of difficulty if they are playing different.
But in this case...I got my daughter and her friend a lane...and then I got a lane next to them. I do this because in the time it'll take them to bowl 2-3 games...I can bowl 8-9. Also I don't have to worry as much about them having questionable "etiquette" because I'm on one side of them at least.
Well, the place was pretty busy...I walk in to reserve the lanes...and the gal takes care of it...how I wanted...two lanes, me on one and them on another right next to me. But as she finishes the transaction she says, "This is fine, but on days when we're actually busy they might not let you do this."
But they were busy. And she was letting me do it. So....was I supposed to give her a tip? Was she hinting that she did me a favor and maybe she "likes" me and I should ask her out? Did she not know that they were in fact busy? I've never understood the, "I'm not supposed to do this" followed by them doing that thing. Are they telling you so that YOU feel guilty they are doing something elaborate for you? Is it a "power" thing where they're showing off that they can, "skirt the system" with a push of a button?
And why doesn't this happen in cooler settings? Like;
- Lingirie store..."I'm not really supposed to MODEL the underwear for customers...but okay..."
- Airplane..."We're not really supposed to let guests fly the plane...but okay....just this once..."
- Hotel..."It's quite frowned upon by corporate for us to visit guests in their room for drinks and wild sex...but I guess this one time..."
- Car Dealer..."We usually don't let potential customers just take the Lambroghinis home and use them without actually buying them...but okay..."
...sorry...it's been a slow day on bowlingboards.com...I'm running out of entertainment.

I haven't ever really understood the logic behind giving you less lanes. If you give me 2 lanes I'm done in an hour and a half if you give me one it takes three hours you still had the opportunity to collect the same amount of money maybe if you kept me there longer I might consume more in drinks but if I'm done in and hour I might decide to bowl more so it seems even too me

I've had this happen a few years ago.
Made a deposit for something like $700, and I didn't notice until I got home, the receipt said the deposit was for $7000, and online it showed $7000.
The next day they corrected it online back down to $700.
If she's simply a counter gal these things come with the territory. Some know how to run a counter and some don't. Sounds like she may of been trying to make herself feel good by making a judgment call in your favor. You did get what you wanted.
Had a similar experience. Went up to the counter and asked the girl if me and my wife could bowl on two adjacent lanes. She looked at a manager-looking dude and he said you can't do that (we generally bowl in 2 hour blocks).
The next week, the manager guy wasn't there and the SAME girl said "no problem."
This is also an AMF house and their prices aren't consistent with their website AT ALL.

At your skill level, or really lack of skill, does it really matter? You could bowl on 1, 2 or 10 lanes and still have the same poor results.
Just because you're still mad that you and Iceman, with your lefty/righty stacked combo couldn't defeat me and MWhite in the AVI Doubles Match....doesn't mean you have to get grouchy.
Just trying to turn over a new leaf and be a worse person, if that is possible. Everyone tries to be a better person - so cliche. Why not try to downgrade a little? Go a little further into the proverbial gutter?
