Thread: Christina Hardee- Crux Review

    Default Christina Hardee- Crux Review

When it comes to the Crux its got a pretty awesome wow factor.

If you have ever told yourself or heard "I don't like asymmetrical equipment" "Asym Equipment rolls to early" "Asym equipment doesn't roll good for me"

"I can get Asym equipment through the mids without it rolling out"

Than this ball could be the game changer for you.

I also have never been a big fan of the earlier rolling smoother equipment. I have a lack of revs and getting the corners out is a issue.

But taking a box finish crux and putting a little polish on it had become one of my favorite balls.

Its amazing how much angle it can make and continue through the pins being a Asym piece. Its really amazing at blending out over under conditions and keeping the lanes more controlled. The energy at the pins isn't given up at all and overall is a useful tool on many occasions.

Oh.. And its great to look at!

There is so much technology and research in this core its almost a unfair advantage against the competition.

When your ready to see a lot of strikes and run the pins over. Its time to put a Crux in your bag

    Box finish with Polish

    Layout: 60X4/5-8X30

    Speed 15-16mph

    Rev rate 250

    Hmmm....

See...I feel bad for kinda "ripping" Walt McKnight's review...because I feel like I should now "rip" this review....but since it's by Christina Hardee...who I watched livestream at the WSOB on PBA ExtraFrame....and who is kinda cute....I can't "rip" her review.

I know...it's a double standard and Walt has EVERY reason to feel unfairly treated...BUT...in my defense...

    1) We only have like 3 girls on this whole site...so I think there's at least an unspoken rule that we do our best NOT to drive them away...although I "may" have driven 1-3 away over the past year and a half...at least one for sure.

    2) I actually DO like her review better...even though I don't see a video anywhere...because it's more, "here's where this ball seems to work, this is what I like about it, this is the kind of bowler that might like it, etc..." rather than just "This ball is perfect for everyone and every condition and it's just totally awesome." Plus...her being a lower rev rate player...her game relates more to an average bowler...or in my case a very sub-par bowler.

What I don't understand...is why Storm came out with the BYTE...a compliment to the very popular and successful SYNC (probably next to the Mastermind, the ball I see thrown most often and most successfully on the lanes in the past year)...but then DISCONTINUED the SYNC to indtroduce the Zero Gravity...with a difffernet core. THEN...they make a perfect compliment to the BYTE/SYNC...the CRUX...but they give it a new core. It sends the impression that there was something wrong with the G2 core. Either that...or Storm's reserch department is bored out of their minds and needs to constantly change cores with ever new release.

And it's a shame..because I think a SYNC/BYTE/CRUX arsenal would have the potential of being one of the better 3-ball lineups in recent history...right on par with Storms IQ series and Brunswick's Mastermind and Aura series'. But now we'll never know...because they totally changed the core of the Crux.

But...as DHoff would say..."Who cares about cores and cover stocks and performance...it smells like a pomengranate...and thats all that matters."

And no, thats not an official quote.

Okay...ramblings nearly over...just wanted to close with, it was a pleasure watching Christina bowl at the WSOB...sorry it didn't go better...I only got to see whatever games Xtra Frame was showing...but I know Christina struggled a bit in the games I watched...but, better luck next year!! My only follow-up question is; did YOU use the CRUX at the WSOB? Why? Why not? Which animal patterns did you use/not use it on??

Hi Thank you for the compliments and not "Ripping" my review :P

I did use the Crux or at least try to use it on every pattern. It was at box finish and since it was a new ball to me going out there, giving it a try on everything to see where it fit was enjoyable.
It is pretty versatile I found a decent look with it on just about every pattern for the fresh then making a change for the break down. But if there is oil in the fronts the Crux really seems to have a home on most shots.
Chameleon if I remember correctly was the one where it just played a little to0 strong and didn't have much of a look with it on the fresh.

Thanks again for the well wishes for next year.
    Have a happy new year!

    YAY!!

I got a PBA bowler to respond to my post!!!

I'm officially the coolest poster on this site!!! Granted, that was already probably established pre-response…and it's not a huge accomplishment given the competition…but STILL!!!

And…even though it was online…it also counts as getting a girl to talk to me…so I'm batting a thousand!!!

Thanks Ms. Hardee. Look forward to watching you on XTra Frame again soon!!

To bad you didn't have that resume back when there were bowling groupies.

I know. I really want a 'groupie'. I'd even settle for a stalker. When I hear reports of some celebrity having a run in with some creepy stalker, I usually think, "damn...I wish someone would stalk me." Stalking has GOT to be exhausting. I'd much rather sit back and "be stalked" than to have to be the stalk"er". My closest experience to being stalked are the people that sit outside the grocery store collecting donations.

There's still bowling groupies...there's just less of us. If you watch XTra Frame events...a lot of times...even on BowlTV...they will also have people commenting on their Facebook page. There could be a couple hundred people all making comments and asking questions. Most of them are stupid...but it's a low bar for "groupies".

The most annoying thing is...when they ask the groupies to submit questions that they then ask whatever expert or pro happens to be on the telecast...and SO MANY groupies will start flooding the comment section with questions specific to their own game. They sometimes confuse "interaction" with "free coaching" and it's annoying.

During the WSOB I actually got them to read my question to Mark Baker and Marshall Holman. I asked them if becoming an Elite PBA bowler was more gift or hard work. Could a non-gifted person simply work their way onto the Tour and be successful? Or is the "gift" essential? Something like that. And they actually answered it! And I didn't think they would...I was only asking it sort of as a joke because of Iceman and his "gift" garbage...and I'll be damned, they read it and commented.

As to what their answer was...they essentially sidestepped the question by saying that almost all elite level bowlers have some element of the "gift". There aren't very many examples of really bad bowlers that work hard and make the PBA Tour. However, there are many examples of bowlers that had the "gift" and never put in the work/effort needed to get to an elite level. So, they sort of said the "gift" was essential...but then sidestepped and said hard work is JUST AS essential.

And they told a couple stories of some guys from back in the day that when they first got on the Tour, REALLY struggled...but then worked hard and became champions. And I know more than one person has mentioned WRW from the standpoint that when he started bowling leagues he wasn't very good at all...but obviously with his horseshoe abilities/gift and a great deal of work...he's the best bowler in history.

That house must have a very strong oil pattern.

Seems everyone is playing in the same area based on the wear pattern on the approach.

Good eye. That is some wear pattern. For aslan, I pick up my Crux Thursday with the same layout. Maybe I should drive west 50 miles on SR44 and make a new video with the OP or take a lesson.
