Scores dont always tell you the truth. You can score on house shots and be bowling bad, we all should know that. After a season of league I started out really bad. Made some adjustments, got my scores up to the high 180s, all the way up to a 254 bowling a 700.

But, I wasn't bowling good at least I thought I wasn't. I was missing my mark, I felt my timing was off so when I went to see my coach to fix that feeling, I had some big ah-ha moments. I have spoken/typed about this before but i was given home work. It was to read a book called focus for bowling. It gave a lot of insight to the mental game, but I found my mental game isn't a big problem. But it is a problem in the sense I put my self down after bad shots even if I get a strike. I look at it like I really shouldn't have had that strike.

My game is going to another level thanks to good coaching and a drive to be better. I am going up and bowling better and better. The best tip I learned and that I would like to share with you. I may need to take pictures to explain it better, but, i'll give it a go like this and if pics are needed i will take pics and explain it better. But the further away your knees are the higher your strike % will be. It is a team usa study if anyone knows where the article is posted that would be cool to, but here you go
Fixed it for easier reading. Not trying to be an jerk, just trying to help out. Promise.

That is awesome that you got some good coaching. Sometimes the simplest things can make a big difference. Changing a mindset made a world of difference in my game aswell. I am hard on myself for making bad shots, and I beat myself up. But, nothing like it used to be in that it would affect me for a few frames. Now, it is a few seconds after and I know what I have to do next time up.

Would be interested in seeing that article as well.

Is it the finishing position (posting the shot) where you see the knees are far apart?

Interesting point about the knees, this was one of the first things I was told when I first decided to go see a coach. Last week I had my single worst league series since last May, and as I got more and more frustrated by the end of the night I just tried to pay attention to what I was doing wrong.

One of the first things that jumped out at me was that my knees were way too close, and while I can't know for sure if I was doing this the entire night I'd say it certainly contributed to my crap bowling (although there were other factors I identified as well).
