    Default New guy from Colorado!

Hey all....just wanted to say hi an introduce myself. My name is Jim, and I'm new to bowling.

Well, I'm new to taking it serious....lol. Before it was about drinking beer and going once every year or so. But I've come to realize that there is more to it than that. I have and old Columbia 300 (white dot) and just recently picked up a Hammer (First Blood) (used) from a buddy ($50) who said he didn't like it cause it hooked too much...lol! Yes it does!

I've been going about twice a week now (for about 3 weeks) and have watched endless videos of bowling basics. When I first started a 135 would be a great score for me and I was a straight bowler. I just cant get revs with a conventional release, so I tried two handed (Belmonte style) and man what a difference. So now I strike two handed (Hammer, First Blood) and pick up spares throwing straight (Columbia, White Dot). I went from 135...to 170.....to a couple 190 games. My best score so far is a 243. I just got invited to join a league and I start this Wednesday.

I hope I don't come off like I'm bragging because that is far from who I am, but I'm proud to have learned so much in a short time, and look forward to my future adventures in bowling. Thanks for listing, and I hope I didn't over do my intro...lol.

    Jim

No, you sound very enthusiastic and that's a good thing.

You should learn to bowl lefty (if righty) then you could do it all. One/two handed...Righty/Lefty throw. Now that would be fun to see!

    Good luck in your league.

    Good luck in your league.
That brings up a question...I know you aren't allowed to switch between right and left handed during a game, but are you allowed to switch between one handed and two handed during a game? I would assume that you are, but was just wondering if there was a rule that covered it.

    Thanks guys for the welcome!

Good point about the switching hands in a league....I'll have to check into that!

I am left handed and just the other day was messing around and threw one right handed....not a bad result, left the 7 pin standing...lol. although the next shot was in the gutter..lol.
