Default Bowling Ball Manager app Review

The Bowling Ball Manager app is for keeping track of your bowling ball and grip specifications. The app is .99 cents and compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/bowl...343201026?mt=8

While the app is simple to use, the lack of some key basic features and a little polish keeps this from being a truly useful app.

At launch the screen opens to the ball list, adding a ball to the list is done by clicking on the Add(+) button. This opens a screen where the ball name is entered and then saved. Once saved you are returned to the ball list screen.

Next to enter ball information, you click on the ball name in the list. This takes you to the "Layout (Basic)" screen, here you enter your basic grip spec's and PAP location.

This screen also where you access Ball Info, Layout Advanced, Finger Sizes, Notes and the ability to Tweet.

Ball Info is where Brand name, Ball Weight, Coverstock, Finish, Price, Serial Number and Lane Condition are entered.

Layout (Advanced) is where finger and Thumb pitches are entered.

Finger Sizes allow you to enter Grips size, Finger & Thumb size, Oval Degree and grip Style (Brand).

Tweet and Notes are obvious functions.

Where the App falls short is in some missing key features and ball information.

1- The ability to sort the ball list.
Balls are only listed in the order you enter them in, there's no option to sort them. (Examples: Alphabetically, by Mfg., Date etc.)

2- The ability to Export the list information as a text file.
This would allow you to print, email, backup etc. the information.

    3- Missing ball information.
a- No way to enter the ounces of the ball weight. (Ex: 15lbs 4oz.)
b- No entry for Top weight.
c- No entry for Pin to CG measurement.
d- No entry for date of purchase.
e- No entry for core type (Asymmetrical, Symmetrical)

In terms of polishing the app, The flow of entering information could be better.

When entering a new ball it should just take you directly to the Ball Info screen first to enter the Name, Mfg etc. info.

Then have the option buttons on that screen for Grip Spec's, Layout, Tweet and Notes

Then on the grip screen have the option buttons on that screen for Pitches and Finger/grip sizes and Ball layout.
(Note: Calling the grip spec. screen "Layout" can be confusing, as grip spec's and a balls layout are separate things.)

There are some other minor tweaks that could be made also, like in formatting the inputted information, a ball report or summary showing the information (other than the input screen).

In regard to the Tweet function, I don't really see a need for it in this type of app. A better function may have been the ability to include a photo of the ball.
