Thread: How many people have bowled 300s with each hand?

Default How many people have bowled 300s with each hand?

Does anyone know? It was something I was wondering after someone was talking and mentioned that it was only a handful. I've found a few people who have done it (online) but didn't find any solid "total" numbers. Just curious.

I don't know, but given that only about 1 percent of the popultion is ambidextrous and many of us tend to bowl more with one hand than the other, it has to be a relatively small number

I think the number is very low. I would personally never try to bowl a 300 left handed as a right handed person. It's just not something I want to do.

I can barely bowl right-handed without looking foolish at this point. Why would I want to waste time *attempting* to throw left-handed? But I admire those who can!

How about left handed, right handed, two handed, and thumbless. All in one night. I'll pay $1000 for first to accomplish this.

If a person shot a 300 bowling thumbless, using two hands, putting the fingers of the right hand into the ball, would that count as 3/4 of the criteria?

In this case, they were a long-time right hander with several 300s but had an injury that meant either no more bowling, or switch to leftie. Outside of injury cases or winning bar bets I pretty much agree, I'll put out the best effort I can with the best tools I have (which in my case is going right handed)

Only if they use their opposite slide foot and do the Vogue after every strike

No. But it's probably more common than you think. Older bowlers, the joints tend to wear out quickly...so often times they'll go down in weight and eventually even switch bowling hands. And once they do that, with time and practice, they can get back to where they were (usually) and that certainly could include perfect games.

But a small number...I'd guess < 400 total...especially nowadays when people have so many options in terms of entertainment...if ya can't bowl RH...you might still be able to golf RH...or still enjoy other hobbies.

I've only seen one person bowl a 300 in my short life. I'm sure bowling 300's are more common with all the new tech and stuff that's going into bowling balls and such. But to bowl a 300 with both your left and right hand... you've either got to be really dedicated to the sport, or as said above, have suffered an injury, and having to switch to the other hand. For now, I'll just worry about getting a 300 with my right hand!
