Thread: Question about 4 ball rolling bags

  1. #1

Default Question about 4 ball rolling bags

    Take this one for example:
    http://www.bowlingball.com/products/...ll-roller.html

It is a 4 ball bag with optional 2 ball roller or 2 ball hand bag.

My question is it looks like you can't have the 2 ball roller option with shoe compartment. The shoe compartment is in the detachable 2 ball hand bag piece.

It would be nice (if not bulky) if both sections were rollers so you could still use only the 2 roller bag option with shoe compartment.

    Am I asking too much?

This would be used for me and wife. We currently have an old Brunswick 2 ball roller bag where the shoe compartment fits both our shoes. Looking to upgrade to either 3 or 4 roller bag where we had the option of either just bringing 2 balls or 4 balls depending on situation.

Not interested in two separate 2 ball roller bags.

    You're asking too much.

How the heck would you engineer a 4-ball roller that turns into two 2-ball rollers? If you did, one of the roller sets would be a POS.

I know. At the very least make it so the 2 ball roller part of it contains the shoe compartment.

Also, FWIW, a couple of guys in my league have the exact bag you linked and love it.

I think that's the one I'm going to buy when the time comes.

Good to know. I just kind of feel it odd that with the current design it almost makes it pointless as a 2 bag roller as you will have to find a place to carry your shoes if you remove the 2 ball hand bag.

But I guess it's designed to be a full time 4 bag roller bag.

The main reason four ball bags split into two bags is so you don't have to lift over 60 pounds of equipment in one shot to get one of them in your car. You can still buy folding luggage carts, the sort of lightweight folding hand trucks that people used to use before they started putting wheels on suitcases. Get one of those for when you only need the top tote.

That makes sense now. With four balls you're looking at 60 pounds and then some.

Also good reason that 4 ball rollers split apart is to be under 50lb limit on each half when travelling. When I have flown to Nationals, has been a god send to pack the rollers as much as possible with clothes toiletries etc. and check them for free with Southwest.

The bad thing about a 4-ball bag is lifting it out of the trunk. I use two 2-ball rollers, and will update to two 3-ball rollers next season.
