    Default Not a good start

I bowled what was supposed to be the first night of our sport shot league but we ended up doing a mini tournament as we only had 6 bowlers show up. The proprietor hopes he can get some more so we are going to try for the league again next week. 4 game set on WTBA Paris pattern switching between sets after every game and all I can say is that's a rough one. I've bowled some sport shots and some PBA pattern shots before but this one kicked my butt. I've never played a pattern the plays slicker on the outside than it does on the inside. It also didn't help that the two bowlers I was paired up with decided to throw highly surface equipment at 18 miles per hour right down the middle from warm ups through the matches.

138-165-186-149=638. The first game I had trouble finding a line and with both right and left side spares. In the second game I fixed the problems I was having with right side spares but still struggled on the left side ones all night. The third game I actually started to feel somewhat comfortable and played pretty well even made a few of the left side spares but I knew I was running out of places to play as the inside line I had been throwing was going away. The last game was a disaster the inside line wouldn't hold If I moved left the ball got outside too far and was doa I finally just took as much hand out as I could and played 15 to 10 and just lived with it if It went Brooklyn.

I made some mistakes but this was my first time. I arrived a little late and didn't find out what the pattern was before bowling, I only had the Arson Low flare ready to go (other balls I had just got back from the proshop and didn't have them taped up and ready to go yet, I should have switched to my plastic for the left side spares much sooner. Live and learn hope this gets off the ground and I shoot better next week. Finished 4th out of 6

With my lower rev rate…I actually wasn't affected as much as we went from one pattern to another each week. The main thing was just the miss room is virtually non-existent. And, on a THS…especially with high revs…there's really no OOBs per se. But on sport patterns…you can't just miss right and wait for it to hit the dry and come back for a light pocket hit…it probably won't come back to the pocket at all.

Hopefully some more people join. Those kinda leagues tend to build in popularity over time…but you still need 6 teams or so to get it started.

I hope so too. I've bowled other patterns before that haven't effected my game like that one did. It was definitely a new experience.

Yea, if you're used to bowling mostly on house patterns those WTBA patterns can be a real wake up call. Paris was one of the only ones I did Ok on, but some of the others really left me scratching my head. They can bring you down to Earth REAL fast .

I've bowled PBA Patterns before but never WTBA. I think it just didn't match up well to my game and it was a wrong ball issue hopefully we will get the league up and going and I will get another crack at it.

Yep...If you got the wrong ball then forget about it. I've had a few patterns where I just couldn't quite find the right one (at least not until it was too late). The transition on each pattern is also different, which is also a fairly big difference to THS. A couple patterns I started off pretty good and as soon as the transition hit, I just couldn't read it. Anyway....good luck on the rest. How many WTBA patterns are you guys gonna do?
