Maybe sometimes your wife is unknowingly throwing a backup ball meaning that instead of her had turning a little to the left on the release she is turning to the right a little at
the release. That will make the ball go to the right a little. My wife has a rubber ball from the 60s drilled conventionally and sometimes she can throw that with a backup ball reaction and she is a straight ball bowler. So you can have a ball that will go to the right sometimes depending on if her hand turns to the left or the right at the release.

It definitely sounds like she is turning her palm to face the right. This would cause the inconsistency of when this happens. Try to have her visualize doing something that would need her to keep her palm facing the same way. Hope this helps

I've had her imagine a rod coming out of the middle of her arm where the joint is and keep it pointed at the pins. She did a lot better the other night. No drifting balls.
