    Unhappy Things Neglected...

    Recently, I've been neglecting a couple items and it's kind've a bummer.

    1) Bowling This Month online subscription.
Probably the best place for articles on bowling...I subscribed a year or so ago...I might even have renewed the subscription. Well, anyways, I used to read almost every article every month...in addition to reading Rob's articles on his modern bowling site. But lately, not really anything.

Reason: I've been SOOOOOoooo busy trying to work with my coach and fix some of the basic things related to stance and approach...that I haven't really had the time to go out and find a new thing to work on. I'm hoping to get caught up on the articles and get back into it...but I'm way behind in my reading.

    2) PBA Xtra Frame.
Super excited to order it for the WSOB last season. Watched everything on there...especially over the holidays. Was really, really looking forward to the PBA50 season and the WPBA (not the PBA League though...that I could do without). But after the first two PBA50 events...I just kinda lost interest.

And the real reason is that I'm super busy at work (when not writing this stuff) and I was planning on watching XTra Frame at my desk...just kinda have it on in the background while I work...but my internet security at work has increased and I now can't get it to play. It keeps wanting updates to Flash and MS Silverlight (whatever that is) and I had the IT guy try to update it with no success...and I hate to bug him to come back when really, it's not really a work related necessity.

That means I have to watch the tournaments at home, archived...and when I'm not working...I tend to be bowling...and when I'm not...I'm on my laptop...which I need to connect to my TV in order to watch the archived footage.

Aslan, if work gets in the way of your bowling, you should cut out work. Just sayin'...

I actually thought about that yesterday. I often neglect my work because I'm writing about or thinking about or actually physically bowling. And that's not a good thing...because work pays for my ability to afford to bowl.

But I also thought about it in more of a hippie fashion....that if I've found something I love to do...isn't the ideal situation where we say goodbye to the job and take on a new career related to what we love to do?

But I can't go the hippie route. Health Insurance is expensive. Rent in California isn't cheap. I need to replace my car the end of this year. I'm far too horrible of a bowler to actually do anything related to bowling as a career. Mike Jakubowski gets away with it...but he's personality plus...and has one of only 2 PBA television gigs. And besides...I've gotten into other things as intensely as bowling...or at least almost. I was really into paintball for a time. So maybe bowling is just a phase?

Once I get my apartment unpacked...hopefully I'll be able to set aside some time to catch up on the PBA50 and WPBA stuff and on the BTM articles.

Balance between work and hobbies so hard to attain. My other hobby is powerlifting. I'm a letter carrier, my other hobby is powerlifting. So my powerlifting plateau for years, then I became a postal supervisor, and in my first year of supervising my deadlift went up from 515 to 550 lbs. Eventually the schedule of supervisor became impossible for me to deal with, so I went back to delivering mail, and my lifting gone to ****. Sometimes I'm being asked to comeback to supervise, and the only reason I entertain that thought is my lifting.

Plus, there just aren't any bowling alleys near Haight-Ashbury... But the blacklight "rock-n-bowl" would be great on acid...
