    Default Week 20

Well got a little bit going tonight, Shot 180-262-214 for a 656 series.

Changed the surface on the BA to P800/Royal Compound/Royal Shine, then kept it kind of tighter inside. I had hold to the left and some recovery on the outside. Had to keep the speed consistent, 3rd game started slowing down till I noticed the mph on the monitor.

I was doing the cleaning after every frame again, only left 2 ten pins.

Right handed Stroker, high track ,about 13 degree axis tilt. PAP is located 5 9/16” over 1 3/4” up.Speed ave. about 14 mph at the pins. Medium rev’s.High Game 300, High series 798

Congrats Bowl I know it's been a struggle for a while. It's always nice when you make a change and it works. Good luck next week.

Thanks! I'll breathe a sigh of relief when I have 6's a few weeks in a row.

    Week 22

Well the slump continues, at least the low carry does. The odd thing about this slump is out of 22 weeks I've only bowled under average 8 of those weeks. Not that much under either, I'm picking up spares left and right, but few strikes so it adds up to little.

This night it was 168-157-224 for a 549 series. Started that 3rd game off with a hambone.

The spare leave for everyone this night was the greek church, it was popping up on ours and every lane around us. I left the 4-6-7-9 and just about picked it up.

I got to say one thing, I don't know if the cleaning after everyshot is responisble, but I haven't hardly been leaving the 10 pin like I was since I've been doing it. This night only 2 left, one in the first game and one in the last.

Hmmm....I'm going to try this the next night of league.

Well not particularly bowling great, but not exactly bad either. This week it was 188-155-213 for a 556 series. We are 5 weeks into the 2nd half and I'm averaging 10 pins higher than the 1st half.

I'm staying real clean, Splits are down, corner pin leaves are down, The problem is I'm not stringing strikes.

We've made it into first place (though after this week I just found we dropped to 2nd place, out of 1st by only one point though).

This week was something, backends were way tight. They had a small afternoon league just before ours and I don't think they stripped the lanes good when it oiled.

The lanes were pretty oily, this image shows the oil on my ball after my last shot at the end of game 3 and that was playing in about the same area as everyone else had been. The lanes were breaking down real slow. I even tried playing outside and there was that much oil there.

    .

I was even cleaning the ball every frame. Now I can't say it has anything to do with it, but since I've been cleaning every frame. Which I started doing at the start of this half my average has gone up, maybe it's a coincidence.

But my corner pins leaves have fell way off. I've only been leaving 2-3 10pins at most, last night was the most I've left for awhile 6. (I was testing another cleaner "simple green & alcohol mix" this night though, which I won't be putting back in my bag it don't make the cut.) and most of them weren't pocket hits to begin with.

    Week 24

Well had a good night shot 235-192-298 for a 725 series. For a 197 pins over average, I think that will get me league season highs.

Didn't know how the night would go, we were on the last pair of lanes 31-32 and thats where they started oiling also.

I was also trying out my new leather (Bowlingball.com branded) shammy pad. Which did a great job wiping oil off the ball.

First game was pretty good only left three 10pins, picked up one and missed one (third was on the last ball)

Second game had four 10 pins, picked up one in the tenth frame. Not all 10's were left on pocket hits, several were on brooklyns.

The lanes were hooking, the heads were kind of dry. But we did have some midlane oil.

Third game I had moved in about 2 boards and started crushing the pocket. Had the front 11 and the on the last ball I gripped up on it with my thumb alittle. I knew it just as I was releasing it, but couldn't stop.

Tugged it in about a board and a half and the ball started going brooklyn but not quite and it left the 6&10 pins.

Not complaining though, I was keeping my arm straight and coming through the ball great, releasing toward the pins and could feel the ball rolling right off my hand.

We are 6 weeks into the 2nd half now and I'm now averaging 19 pins higher than the 1st half average. 1st Half ending ave. was 174, current 2nd half ave. 193, overall ave 179.

Well didn't follow that week up to great.

    week 25-
    186-167-171 for a 524 series

    week 26-
    212-163-151 for a 526 series.

The trouble down at this end of the house, the balls are not finishing strong. I think this is because there's a small league just before us and when they re-oil it's not stripping the lanes good (if at all).

    Week 27

    2nd half, first Position round.

Shot 157-266-170 for a 593 series. We split points.

First game I was trying too hard, my swing was too stiff and missing spares etc.

Second game I just got up there loosened up and started swinging and striking.

Third game I was still swinging okay, but the lanes were changing fast.

Thank's to Ole Roy's I'm trying out some new cleaners. They sent me some samples of his "Front 9" and "Late Shift" cleaners. They look okay so far.

While I'm not saying it's the cause, the cleaning the ball better between frames (Whether your using just a leather pad or a liquid cleaner) might be helping.

Since I started doing it at the beginning of our second half.

I'm averaging 10 pins higher than the first half, I've shot the same number of 200 games in half the time I did in the first half and the number of 10 pins I've been leaving are way down.

The ball does act pretty consistent, also I've found adding the routine of cleaning to my pre-shot routine I've been focusing better. Which I think bears out what they say about having a good pre-shot routine.

I think I got work on the mental game more, get more loosened up on the the approach and just bowl.
