Thread: 300 vs 800

    Default 300 vs 800

What would you rather have. A 300 game with no 800 series or 800 series with no 300

I know the 800 is tougher but personally would love a 300 game (sanctioned of course)

    800
Far more rare, a higher achievement. A 300 usually just requires a little luck, a lot of skill, and a consistent shot. An 800+ usually requires all of those items and also the ability to read a ball's movement to help you stay ahead of lane conditions....which is a very high level skill in bowling.

Just last Tuesday a teammate of mine had the front 9 of game three. He threw 9 perfect balls. He threw his first in the 10th for a ringing 10. Another pretty shot that just had some bad luck. 300 games can be had with some luck but bad luck can take it away just as easy.

That said he realized after the miss that if he had finished off the 300, he would have shot 799. I think he was almost happier that he had missed. Lol

800 for me. There are a bunch of guys with multiple 300 games (30-75 for some of them) just does not mean as much anymore. The 800 is a much larger accomplishment.

You can have mine, it's meaningless under modern conditions.

We had a kid in juniors shoot 300 in league, using a 12 lb house ball, no thumb, backup ball up the left side.

Just don't expect him to make a corner pin spare on either side.

My biggest goal this year is shoot 800 in my league. Very tough house. No one shot 800 last season or so far this year. I'll take one with or without.

Okay, seems a little lopsided. How about 300 vs 700?

You mean a 300, but still less than a 700 series? I have done that. It is a little embarrassing, but still, if you have a 300, you feel pretty good.

I've had my fair share of 300 games but always fall a few pins short of
having that elusive sanctioned 800 series.

    I've had a bunch of non-sanctioned 800 series but I haven't had the one
    that really counts yet.

So yeah I'd rather have the sanctioned 800 series than any 300 game.

No, bowling a 300 vs a 700 series. Which is more preferable?
