    Default JasonNJ's Bowling Scores

Just started bowling in a Wednesday Night Mixed league this year. First time ever bowling in a league and it's more of a social league than a competitive one but it's been fun.

We are 7 weeks in and here are my scores.

Week Date HCP Game1 Game2 Game3 SS HS
    1 9/9/2015 3 223 192 235 650 659
    2 9/16/2015 3 255 151 184 590 599
    3 9/23/2015 3 147 138 160 445 454
    4 9/30/2015 28 170 179 218 567 651
    5 10/7/2015 28 209 180 226 615 699
    6 10/14/2015 24 180 168 184 532 604
    7 10/21/2015 27 183 190 244 617 698

I didn't keep any notes nor did a use an app to keep track of my games but I'll give you a summary of what I remember from those weeks.

Week 1 - Bowled with my Columbia 300 Blur Pearl. Was pretty happy with the night. My ball reaction was good and my team won 7-0

Week 2 - Started great but was bowling against someone with a fairly high rev rate so lanes transitioned really fast Game 2. I only had my Blur Pearl that night so couldn't switch balls and had to adjust and Game 2 was a struggle. Game 3 found the pocket again but just wasn't striking. Left a lot of flat 10s. Won 3 Lost 4

Week 3 - Was just horrible night. I decided to bring a Storm Pitch Black along with my Blur Pearl. Unfortunately I had polished my Blur pearl earlier that afternoon and usually my house is medium to light oil. That night for some reason it was heavy oil. With the new polish on my ball and the other being urethane my ball reaction was terrible. Ball just kept skidding and hitting light. I saw the maintenance guy that night and before I even said anything he said the lanes were playing tighter tonight, right? He told me his boss was the one who mixed the oil in the machines that day and that the concentration of oil was much higher. Lost all 7 that night.

Week 4 - Had an ok night. Picked up a Columbia 300 Swerve and bowled my first 2 games with it and was getting used to the ball reaction so was never hitting the pocket clean. Switched to my Blur and bowled a 218 for my last game. Other team was pissing me off because they were striking a lot with balls high on the head pin or light mixers, Most of them were 140-150 avg and I think they all bowled about 30 pins above their average. Lost all 7 again.

Week 5 - I think I only bowled with my Blur that night and I had a pretty good night. I don't recall anything really memorable that night except my middle game was only so so and was the only game we lost. So we won 5 and lost 2.

Week 6 - Got stubborn and bowled with my Swerve exclusively. Still not completely comfortable with it so struggled a little. Won 2 and lost 5 that night.

Week 7 - Decided to put some polish on the Swerve and started getting the ball reaction I wanted. Bowled 1st game with it and was hitting pocket consistently. Missed 3 10 pin spares that game costing me a 210+ game. Started 2nd game with the Swerve but lanes started to transition so I switched to my Blur around the 6th frame. I actually bowled clean but just couldn't string together any strikes so bowled my lowest scoring clean game ever 190. My last game bowled clean again but started with 3 lucky strikes but by the 5th frame I was throwing it well again and finished with strikes in 7,8,9 and started the 10th with a strike and a ringing 10. Made the spare to finish clean with a 244 and we won all 7 that night.

Looks like the potential is there...probably just a matter of getting the spare shooting improved and you'll be there.

Yeah thanks. The annoying thing was the night before I practiced and I made 10/11. I tend to over adjust, I missed the first 10 pin by dropping it into the channel and then I missed the next 2 left.

Just another bad night tonight. It was like a sauna in the bowling center. It rained all day and night and conditions were bad. I could not slide at all and that threw my release point off all night. Everyone was complaining about not being able to slide. I was tempted to play in socks.

1st game - 155. Missed 3 spares because I stuck on the approach and was just never comfortable. My team lost by 7 pins.

2nd game - 181. Bowled a little better but still a major struggle since I had to concentrate on planting and throwing instead of trying to slide. I struck and spared the 10th and my team won by 16.

3rd game - 174. More of the same issues. Release was all over the place. Missed a 10 pin spare in the 8th frame because of the humidity. My thumb stuck and the ball went flying down the lane right into the channel. I recovered to spare the 9th and struck twice in the 10th with a 9 count and my team won by 10.

Overall my team could have easily taken 7-0 but I guess I'm happy with 5-2 since the conditions were so bad. Definitely going to get myself some better shoes with interchangeable soles.

My scores from the last 2 weeks. Not very good unfortunately.

    Week 9 - 11-04-2015
    157 - 202 - 162

I pre-bowled my games on a Friday night and the lanes were pretty burnt. I went through the nose about 5 times and left a split each time. I did salvage my middle game with a 202. My team somehow won one game and total wood for 3 points and we lost 4 points.

    Week 10 - 11-11-2015
    176 - 171 - 191

Another so so night. I was around the pocket most of the night but didn't string together too many strikes. Also the left lane seemed to have a lot of carry down tonight and me and another guy struggled to carry on that lane. I had to switch to my Swerve before the 3rd game for that lane. I also missed too many 10 pins. I think I went 3 for 6 which really hurt my scores. My team won 5 and lost 2 that night.

Finally broke out of my slump.

    Week 12 12/3/2015

    Game 1- 191 - Started with my Haywire OOB finish - Opened the 1st and 7th frame. Chopped a 2 - 4- 5 to open with a 9 and then left a 4 - 6- 10 split in the 7th for my only 2 open frames.

Game 2 - 212 - Still used the Haywire - Missed a 7 pin by a hair in the 4th frame. Was my only open frame. 9th and 10th frame started to miss the pocket with the transition, still made both spares though.

Game 3 - 236 - Switched to my Unhinged - Missed a 2 - 5 spare in the first frame and closed everything else. I struck 8th, 9th and the first 2 balls in the 10th.

Unfortunately my team lost all 7 points. My teammates all bowled below their average and they other team all bowled at least 20 pins over theirs.

I didn't post my week 11 scores 2 weeks ago because it was a night I wanted to forget. I was just terrible and couldn't do anything right.

    I bowled a 451 series. 158 - 144 - 149. Lost 5 and won 2 that night.

Week 13 - Wednesday Night Mixed League

Bowled a 610 series and bowled with my RotoGrip Unhinged for all 3 games.

Game 1 - 168 -- The night started off not so great had 4 open frames in my first game. Left back to back 7 - 6, 10 splits in frame 2 and 3. Then had a pocket 7 - 10 split in the 5th.

Game 2 - 197 -- Was still struggling with speed control and was going through the nose early in the game had 2 more splits and another 2 open frames where I missed an easy 7 pin and chopped a 6, 10 spare. I finished strong with a strike in the 7th, 9 spare in the 8th and struck out the 9th and 10th to salvage a 197.

Game 3 - 245 -- I started to feel locked in end of the 2nd game and I was this game. I hit pocket with every strike ball this game and had 9 total strikes, only downside, I missed a 10 pin spare by a hair in the 6th.

Was position round and my team won 5 lost 2. Easily could have won all three if I had bowled better first game. Only lost that by 19 pins.

Week 14 - Wednesday Night Mixed League

Bowled a 597 series. Struggled with 10 pin tonight. Missed my first 3 attempts at the 10 pin spare before finally making one in my 3rd game. I stayed to bowl afterwards with some friends and I hit every single 10 pin after that, so I made about 6 in a row. Just so frustrating to not be able to do it when it counted. Anyway, had 6 open frames, the 3 10 pin misses, 2 splits and I chopped a 1,2,4 spare.

Game 1 - 223 - Bowled with the RotoGrip Haywire
Game 2 - 190 - Bowled with the Haywire and switched to the Unhinged after the 5th frame
Game 3 - 184 - Bowled strictly with the Unhinged.

My team ended up winning 5 and losing 2. First game we lost one guy on the other team bowled 84 pins above his average and rolled a 244 and we lost by 52 pins.

Week 15 - Wednesday Night Mixed League

    Game 1 - 161
    Game 2 - 190
    Game 3 - 212

563 Series. It rained most of the day and not sure if it was the humidity or because we were on the last pair oiled that the volume of oil was lower but the lanes seemed to be very light oil and hooking more. Took me a game and a half until I finally found the right line to play. Had 6 open frames, 5 of them were splits and I missed a 1-2-8 spare leaving the 8 pin. On the plus side, I think I went 5 for 5 on 10 pin spares so I'm hoping I got my 10 pin woes behind me.

My team as a whole unfortunately bowled pretty poorly first 2 games and the 3rd game a 150 avg bowler bowled a 200 game and he carried his team to a 6 pin victory in the last game. I seriously wonder if he is a sandbagger, this is the 2nd time I've played his team and both times he averaged 190 while carrying a 156 avg. Anyway, my team lost all 7 points which was a bummer.
