    Default Need new shoes!

I need new shoes! Worn down and beaten up! What's on your feet? I had the SST1 by Dexter but I want something a little more cushioning! Gym shoe type sole but not the really cheap bowling shoe gym shoe type if you know what I mean.

SST8 is good. That is what I have now but Brunzwick has some great shoes as well.

I wear Dexter Tanks. Third year for them and I bowl year round.
I wouldn't suggest SST8s or 9s with the wear issues I've seen around here. Lot of balance sole velcro that no longer holds.

I recently got some SST6, they were on clearance for 99.00, tried them the other day and am having lots
of trouble getting used to the right shoe having all that grip and also they are really heavy shoes.
My old brunswick shoes were the universal sole and weighed about 1/2 as much but I wanted to have the ability to change soles. wish I could change the right shoe soles.
They seem well made and are pretty comfortable, they also have better stability with the wider "clown like" toe box area.

Stay away from the SST8s. I love mine in terms of comfort, but the peel back issues make them a waste of a lot of money.

A guy on my team got the SST9s, and they look to have finally solved the issues the 8s had.

The Dexter SST 8's are bad for toe dragger's and also the grip shoe sole can split if your a big power player who really is pushing off hard.

The new Dexter 9's just came out last month and are supposed to fix the issues the SST 8 had. But they have only been out a for a little while, so there is not much info on wear or any new issues involving them.

I've seen some good talk about the Dexter Tanks.

I just got a new pair of shoes, the Brunswick TPU-X's (the new versions which they fixed some issues the first gens. had). They fit well, they were made/designed by Calloway and fit like a Golf or running shoe. Kind of contoured to the shape of a foot. A lot of cushioning, arch support is good. The standard slide soles/heels are taking a bit to break in though. But I've only had them a little while so have to see.

I have had sst8's for about 3 years and they remind me of show shoes. Wide and stiff. When I get done with league and change into my sneakers my feet feel so much better. Why do they have to be so stiff and wide enough to ski on?

I bought a pair of 3G's back in March I think, but I just started using them after my long layoff at the beginning of this season - so I've only used them for 3 weeks so far and they are probably still being broken in. I mainly chose them because they were relatively cheap for changeable soles, had decent reviews, and very importantly the right foot has a replaceable toecap (I drag my toe a lot) - I read some bad reviews on the SST's for toe draggers as mentioned by other posters.

One thing I really like is the changeable soles (my old pair were not) and how much smoother they slide, they make my old shoes feel like the sliding sole is covered in molasses coated krazy glue. I think the exact model I bought is discontinued, but it was the 3G sport deluxe I think.

I sport a pair of used Dexter Turbos and they are comfortable. Have not tried any of the SST models yet.

My SST8 are on their third year. They are still in very good condition but the sole on the non slide foot is starting to wear a little from dragging. If your not a toe dragger I think these are the best of the shoes especially if you like a wide stable platform. If you drag your toes I would look at the TPU or the 9's.
