Review:
The New Motiv Octane Burn has a nice match up of core and cover. The Burn uses a tried and true Quadfire core with a tamer shell than the original Octane. The Octane Burn, for me fits between my Tag and the Apex. It has more control on the backend also for me. The Octane Burn has great shelf appeal and gets a lot of attention. We had a Motiv Test Drive Demo recently and surprisingly the Burn was the best seller at the Event. This is unusual because it is usually the Hook Monsters that sell the best. We saw some very good youth bowlers with slow speed fall in love with this ball as well as folks who like to play up the boards.
The Octane Burn gets easy length through the front even as it is revving up. The Burn has a nice controlled backend move with plenty of hit. This combination of core and cover does not seem to have any over/under problems. This Burn digs the corner pins out nicely. I have drilled plenty of these balls now and they seem to work for many styles when a weaker predictable reaction is needed. Layouts are easy with this ball and it’s almost as if you just put three holes in it and it will roll great! I think high rev bowlers, slower speeds or people bowling on dryer lanes will have a winner with the Octane Burn. I tested the Octane Burn on fresh flatter pattern for the video, but it allowed me more area on dryer conditions.
Motiv has really been filling its Ball Reaction Chart with great equipment and though continuation may be the new buzzword, Motiv balls definitely have it!
Summary:
The Octane Burn gets easy length and controlled backend.
This is another great looking ball.
This is a great ball for dryer lanes.
If you want predictable hit, you got it.
