    Thumbs down

VDub isn't alone on this one. I don't know why, maybe I'm just subconsciously looking for it, but both times I bowled against 2-handed bowlers in two different tournaments...they were the WORST at this.

There seems to be some misconception that if you throw 2-handed...you're automatically Belmo. And when things don't fall...it's this 'attitude' that it's the fault of 'something'....definitely not them...because if you use 2 hands...they are all SUPPOSED to fall.

And the whole idea is foreign to me...because I'm the opposite. I might hit flush perfectly in the pocket and leave a 10-pin or something and everybody will say I got robbed or maybe it was a pin spot or something...and I don't even consider all that. I'm 100% sure...every bad shot...is a shot I couldn't thrown better and made it strike. I don't like excuses or luck or any other nonsense. If you know the pattern dynamics, have a basic understanding of Physics, and a basic understanding of bowling ball technology...you should be able to strike on any pattern...as long as the pattern is applied consistently. If you didn't strike...YOU did something wrong. You may have only done something a 'smidge' wrong...but so what? Do it a smidge better next time.

If I have to hear one more bowler claim "they got robbed" when hit Brooklyn and leave a flat 10-pin...I'm gonna lose my lunch. Even non-Brooklyn...if you see the ball exit right of center...over and over and over...and they just happen to strike...then you leave a 10-pin....that's NOT LUCK....that's someone that has a low understanding of ball motion and how a ball should exit the pin deck...then they leave an 8-pin and have a giant cluster-fit as if they're Randy Pederson or something. It makes me fantasize that on their next shot...their hand gets stuck...and it carries them completely down the lane into the pin deck where they can lay there and realize the 8-pin is exactly where it was supposed to be.

I'm getting Grumpy in my old age.

I have a younger guy in my monday night league that bowls thumbless. He can shoot some nice games when he is stringing them together but he can't pick up a spare to save his life and usually throws a gutter ball a game. There is another kid that used to bowl in my league that is thumbless. Now he bowls in a starter league averaging 202 and has told multiple people that he is semi-pro which makes me shake my head. I have tried to bowl him for money multiple times but he won't do it.

We have a couple, but they are no Jason Belmonte clones. The one spends more time throwing first ball gutter shots than anyone else I know. Don't think either averages over 170.

Two leagues no two handers each has 1 or 2 two handers. They have little or no effect on scoring. Never win pots and aren't that good. They can throw some awesome strikes but leave a lot of ugly splits and washouts. Throwing 8 strikes a game and averaging 180-190 is useless.

I know three 2 handers and a few no thumb guys
None bowl in the sport leagues
So far they've all been hit or miss bowlers, great game followed up by a low one
The 2 hander that bowls on my Thurs mixed seems to be making the most progress as he takes spare shooting more serious and is focused on shot repeatably more than the others do.
I honestly think for the rest its about looking cool more than building towards a high average.

I can't think of any two handers in my leagues. There are a few no thumb guys, but none of them are really that good. One league that I bowl in has a couple of back-up bowlers, one of which is one of the best bowlers in San Antonio.

Yeah. I have one male back-up bowler in my Wednesday league and he averages in the low 190s. It's not a very powerful shot, but he's consistent as anyone.

190 is decent, but I'm talking around a 230 average. He is SUPER consistent.
