A ball at higher grit with no polish will have to have it's surface touched up after nearly every set. The small peaks and valleys on the 4000 grit especially, won't last long. Bring a 2000, 3000 and 4000 grit Abralon or Siair pad with you to leagues. You can touch up the surface on the balls by hand to great affect. Just don't do it to a ball that has been in play already. Must be done before, or after the ball is used, to remain "legal".
I have a ball I keep at 3000 grit, and I spin it in my hand with a 3000 grit pad before every set. It makes a HUGE difference.
