Default Big drift to the left like Tom Smallwood

I find it easier when I drift like Tom Smallwood. I find it easier to get a smooth release and keep hand behind the ball with the drift.

I can't do the "textbook" approach. I'm just a lot more comfortable with the big drift. I've been fighting it and saying hey you shouldn't be crossing over like that. But I get more consistency with it.

If it helps your game, I say keep doing it. Also I think the consensus with drift is that as long as your consistent with it, there nothing wrong with it. So if you drift 7 boards left is ok as long as you always drift 7 boards left.

Yes, the drift helps my arm swing be more consistent. And I don't fall off balance as I used to be when I tried the textbook method of walking one foot in front of the other.

Basically correct except that you do not want to drift toward your bowling arm.

I think that is what I was doing before and what I still do sometimes out of habit. Drifting right (or towards my bowling arm) meant a VERY inconsistent release and makes keeping your hand behind the ball harder. When I drift right the ball feels really heavy as it isn't under my head many times.
